User AvatarI'm sure some of you have noticed that we've had some downtime today. The company we host our computers with has been having problems today which in turn is causing outages for MobyGames. This isn't the first time it's happened and I can't be optimistic that it will be the last. I've been trying to contact them all day, but none of my messages have been returned and the "Customer Care" number doesn't answer ... the one exception is where the voice attendant says "Thank You for calling XO, Goodbye".... dial-tone.

Anyway, don't worry, we're not going anywhere and these problems are not because of anything on our end. I am going to look into moving somewhere else, but it's a monumental process. If we do move providers, I can honestly say I hope XO suffers a horrible horrible well deserved death. Right now I want that to happen, but our equipment is with them ;)
User AvatarThat sucks. I've only got experience with free providers where you expect crap like that to happen, but you guys are obviously paying them.
User AvatarIt's the story of the previous provider all over again.
User AvatarThis does seem like a familiar story.

i didn't notice today's downtime, but MobyGames is quite frequently down for me. sometimes only for 5 minutes, sometimes little longer. i wrote about it to your support email too. is it possible that there are some country-based dns problems also?
User AvatarSounds like it, I have MobyGames set as my start page and up until now I never had any problems with it not showing up...

That things get screwed up at a provider is normal and noone can predict or prevent it... the bad thing about it is if they don't inform you about it, or not even answer your calls.

I switched providers once because of that. My site was down a few days ago, and I could just give my new provider a ring and they told me what has happened, what they were doing about it and when I could expect my site to be up again. I'm perfectly fine with that.
