Why not measure from the release of Wasteland?

Because Wasteland has nothing to do with Fallout being a great game.

Other than them both being created by Interplay (although Wasteland was published by Electronic Arts).

Other than the lead creative team was made up by totally different people than the creative team of Wasteland.
