View Mode: threaded | watch thread A 22-year-old Russian student, gamer of Lineage II, met in Ufa with Albert, a 33 years old Russian that played in a rival clan in the game. Days before New Year, Albert's clan, Platanium, killed a member of the Coo-clocks, the student's clan, and they decided to meet in real life days before. The meeting ended with Albert dying in its way to the hospital. The murderer hasn't shown any regret, as he seems to understand the event within the rules of the game. In addition, clan members are reported to be harassing the family of the victim. In the source, two more crimes around gaming happened in Russia are mentioned. Holy buddhas and bodhisattvas! My wife loves this game... Would you then, please, play in the same clan as hers? Reason number 1 why MMORPG's are evil. Yeah, I'm a hypocrite and I act as unfair to this genre as those Fox News guys acted towards Mass Effect. But if you say it to me I'll deny it. Besides, I still think MMORPG's are evil.
Evil and dumbfuck.

What has shocked me the most is that RussianToday actually ask experts for their opinion on the happening and they try to take the blame out of the videogame. That's not something you read all the days.

Indra Depari of 'da Clan Depari See, games don't promote violence. It promotes evil. Muahahahaha!!! Whoa, that's creepy.I can't understand how real-life and game-life could become so blurred for certain people. I play a couple of MMOs casually and I don't really care about the gameworld. Real life has always seemed really clear for me, and I know that what happens in a game has zero impact on my actual life. My game character could die, but I still live and have my life to continue as normal. To confuse a game with reality like this requires one to have an actual mental illness beforehand, I guess."Real life has always seemed really clear for me" Great quote :) I never got MMOs. I just prefer to play Battle.Net than PAY for a game monthly that I might never finish. Anyway, people who can't distinguish reality from fantasy shouldn't even be allowed to play games. There's already enough crazyness in the world.
Actually, the only MMOs I play are free-to-play ones. :PYeah, I'm a cheapskate, but I couldn't enjoy playing a game that charged me whether or not I actually played it that month. ![]() Steely Gaze Wrote:

My words exactly. Right until Dark Age of Camelot had to come along and make me break the rule... (Edited by Indra Depari of 'da Clan Depari Re: Lineage II rivalry cause murder in real life Indra Depari of 'da Clan Depari ![]() DANIEL HAWKS ! Wrote:

Try falling in love... Actually come to think of it, people can't distinugish reality/fantasy/and everything else until they're....27-28 years old maybe. Which is only evident when you passed that age... Then again, I still think I'm pretty disillusioned. Old and bitter Indra, Old and bitter.

Only because our resident MG Uruguaian doctor has yet to introduce me to his wife. :) ![]() Indra Depari of 'da Clan Depari Wrote: Zovni Wrote:

Only because our resident MG Uruguaian doctor has yet to introduce me to his wife. :) I told you, first you need to bring her a new girlfriend. It's kind of a ritual sacrifice thing. (Edited by Humanophage (75), Jan 28, 2008) Re: Lineage II rivalry cause murder in real life Humanophage (75), Jan 28, 2008 On a side note, only the murderer was Russian, whereas the victim was Tatar (and a taxi driver, curiously). Unless we're talking about citizenship here, but in this case it's a bit strange to mention it three times.
