View Mode: threaded | watch thread Nintendo recently blocked a port of GoldenEye 007 from being released on Xbox Live Arcade. Nintendo argues that Microsoft can't release it on Xbox Live because it originated on a Nintendo platform, the N64. Microsoft, on the other hand, claims Nintendo refused a profit sharing deal for the release.
That doesn't make much sense since Nintendo let Rare put Conker's Bad Fur Day in Conker: Live & Reloaded.
Corporations are insane! There are hundreds of thousands, actually, probably millions of people queuing up to give them money for something, and all they can do is argue amongst themselves. And they're getting nothing. It's not just Goldeneye either. I mean, there are tons of old games on various systems that I'd gladly pay money to be able to (legally) download, but to be honest I don't think the majority of them will EVER see the light of day again.
I guess I probably shouldn't mention to Nintendo the Goldeneye: Source Half Life 2 mod or how much fun I've been having playing it online...(Those interested in playing it should also grab the patch from the forum link until the new version comes out) that looks awesome! Hell I'd play it.
So Nintendo and Microsoft are screaming over licencing and legality.
Le plus ca change...! Conker is 'officially' owned by Rare, so Nintendo had no say when they ported it to Xbox, hence why Conker and Banjo were removed from Diddy Kong Racing on DS. Goldeneye, on the other hand, was co-owned by Nintendo and MGM and given to Rare to develop. Since MGM is now owned by Sony, and Rare by Microsoft ... yeah, fun times ahead for that one.
Hasn't EA made all the Bond games since Goldeneye ? Do they own the rights to the future game versions now ?

nobody owns the future; that is to be determined by who makes the larger offer.
Sounds like something Heinlein would say! ![]() Pseudo_Intellectual Wrote:
Now let's all live forever and inbreed with our descendants!
And forebears! LOL Activision holds the license right now.
About Conker, when I looked at the screenshots there were two that were exactly alike. One from 2001 the other from 2007. How did that happen ?
