Far Cry 2 DRM uncovered
*Katakis* (37454), Oct 17, 2008
Just days before Far Cry 2 is released, Ubisoft has revealed the game's DRM (Digital Rights Management). According to Ubi's UK Community manager:
  • The game can have up to five activations on three separate PCs.
  • Uninstalling the game causes the activation to be refunded (known as a "revoke"), and as long as you complete a proper uninstall, the game can be installed an unlimited number of times on three systems.
  • You are free to upgrade your computer an unlimited number of times (using Ubi's revoke system).
  • Additional activations can be provided.
FC2 hits shelves in North America on October 21 with Europe to follow three days later.

User AvatarSo if your Windows installation gets fatally corrupted and needs to be set-up from scratch, just make sure you uninstall the game before the crash. =)

User AvatarWhen the game industry gets it that it's total bullshit.

Until then, the legit players have to suffer through it while the pirates enjoying DRM-free copies. Isn't it so, Indra? =)

Hey, look at the bright side: As long as new DRM crap comes out, scene fellas will have new challenges to beat, improving their 1337 sk1lls more and more. It's like game publishers are giving some poor kids at the other side of the planet free programming lessons for life.

And free games.

Hey, for 2 bucks a piece (price depending), to hell with my legal ideologies. :p
Although, I do feel sorry for all that money being wasted for "copy protection." Hell, I'm still playing my ass off. World of Warcraft anyone? :p

I'm not a lawyer, so I don't understand this complicated crap.
