View Mode: threaded | watch thread SoulCalibur IV fans can now play as Vader and Yoda! (For a small
fee.)
Big John WV (24737), Oct 17, 2008 Well it looks like SoulCalibur fans have finally gotten their wish and complaints heard. Namco Bandai has announced that as of October 23, players in Japan will be able to download either the Dark Lord or the Little Green Guy for their respective system. As of now the downloads are only for Japan, but more than likely it will be available from the American and European market as well.
This is why I'm against digital distribution. Esecially this kind. Developers are so greedy. They charge fortunes for games with skimpy content, and then nickle and dime you to death with downloadable stuff that was at one time free. (I don't remember Blizzard charging anything for extra maps for StarCraft !) It's a fad. Like FMV only worse. Now twenty years from now games will be incomplete when you buy them. And it's most likely the servers for those games won't be serving out the extra content anymore. I think people in twenty years will look back at us and cringe for this kinda thing.
Nothing is worse than FMV. ![]() Pseudo_Intellectual Wrote:

"Download", you say? I'm pretty sure the damn characters ARE ON THE DISC ALREADY. Even if they weren't supposed to. I hate DLC that basically does nothing more than activate a small flag in memory. Bleh.
I must be the only one who actually thinks this could potentially be a good model for doing business and cutting cost on the initial investment on the game. I mean, they did it for maplestory, why not fighting games?
