Sierra is a label of Vivendi. The entry was provided based on the box cover.
Well, while the French & German releases actually have 'Vivendi Games' mentioned on the back covers, the US release does not have any mention of Vivendi on the cover at all. All releases have the Sierra logo. Yet the French & German releases are entered under Sierra while the US release is entered under Vivendi ?!
There is an advertisement on the back of booklet for the Cellphone/Mobile version of the game which was published by FOX Mobile Entertainment & Vivendi Games Mobile and that is the ONLY mention of "Vivendi" on the entire US release.
The tech support # listed on the top of the box is 800-630-0811 (Sierra's tech support#):
BUT the website (www.vugames.com) & customer service number (800 757-7707) listed under it is that of Vivendi (parent company).
I think the following may have also caused confusion, on the games website at the very bottom in the fine print it states:
"Developed by Kaolink. Eragon™ & © 2006 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. All rights reserved. Twentieth Century Fox, Eragon and their associated logos are registered trademarks or trademarks of Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. Fox Mobile Entertainment is a trademark of Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. Published by Vivendi Games Mobile. All other trademarks are property of their respective owners."
Note: based on the listed developer (Kaolink being a mobile phone game developer) & the 'mobile' in the publisher, the text is actually referring to the Cellphone/Mobile game release NOT the PC release.
Personally, I believe that the the French & German listings for the X-BOX 360 version of the game have it correct in listing Sierra as publisher and Vivendi as distributor (but that's just my opinion):
So my question still remains unanswered, let me ask it this way: Should the US PC release be listed under the parent company while the German & French PC releases are listed under the subsidiary company? Should either Vivendi or Sierra be corrected either the US listing _or_ on the FR/DE listings respectively?
...or is there something else that I am missing here?
Even though it does not list VU Games (Vivendi Games) on the back cover like the PS2 version, the disc shows the technical support address for Vivendi Games in Culver City and the copyright on the back also refers to the Minnesota address. The European versions show the same, so they should probably have Vivendi Games as the publisher as well, possibly with a local distributor.
World of Conflict has something similar. Both Vivendi Games and Sierra Entertainment can probably be listed alongside as "co-publisher" although Sierra is just part (label) of VU.
Are there any guidelines or rules that apply here?
Or should I just go with:
Or should I go with this separate entry of Vivendi's 'Sierra Online' (making a new AKA if necessary):
