- What is a casual gamer?
I said no, but I would still like to know (again, because I think we had a similar poll recently) how others define casual gamer - is it someone who plays casual games (which I think of as bejeweled-type games), or someone who just plays games occasionally?
Although sometimes for months I only play games occasionally (and usual casual type games). Other times I play hard-core games in a hard-core fashion.

FPS: Gamers that do not abide by the one-shot-one kill rule, to the best of their ability.
Adventure: Gamers that use a walkthrough...before every intellectual approach has been exhausted when they are stuck.
RPGs: Gamers who ignore mini games or ignore finishing sub-quests.
Strategy Games: Gamers whose most intellegent idea for strategy is swarming.
Platform/action Games: Using cheats even before playing the game. :p
Edit: Haven't found a "casual" approach for simulation games (or probably more correct, can't remember one).
Flight sims as the example.
a) playing w/ realism-enhancing gadgetry (flight sticks, rudders, TrackIR, custom-built cockpit...)
b) optimizing components in the sim (performance envelopes of aerodynamic objects like missiles and aircraft, electronics, ...) w/ performance data of the real thing (through updates f.e.)
c) interest in everything that's tied to the real thing; politics, history, aeronautics, sensor technologies, simulation theory, ...
Everything else is casual in my eyes, the time-factor doesn't count.
I must be the only simulator gamer that insists playing those games with a mouse.
Ah, chasing an A-Wing with a mouse in Tie Fighter. Those were the days...
