Old Combat Air Patrol Gamec.1994/5

Doc Johnson on Jul 18, 2012

Hello,

I am trying to remember an old strategy game circa 94/95 which involved setting up Combat Air Patrols launched from a US Navy Aircraft Carrier. CAP missions could be set up over the Taiwan Strait and Electronic Warfare parameters set. I thought it was a Janes Simulation but think I was mistaken there as I can't find it listed. Too many years plus a head injury have taken there toll on my memory.

It was either DOS or Win 95, I am thinking DOS though.

Hope someone remembers a title, then maybe I can pick a copy up somewhere.

Thanks

Doc

Was this a strategy game or a simulator (i.e. cockpit perspective)? If the latter, have you tried looking at the Tomcat or Hornet groups?

...or Fleet Defender?

If the former, could it be Harpoon II? It had a WestPac add-on.

The game was part strategy and that part focused on plotting Combat Air Patrols and EW Aircraft onto a radar screen and the second element was that you could climb into the cockpit if you wished once contact had been made.

Those names supplied so far don't ring a bell in my memory but thanks for the suggestions.

Seems it may have been Jane's combat simulations: Fleet Command.

Not entirely sure but this does have a Taiwan Strait mission in it although I don't remember the other missions it includes.
