GOG.com contest just for experts I'll say
Cavalary (4232), Sep 12, 2012
User AvatarThought here'd be a good place to post this, since it seems to be experts-only, so go right ahead and send them some answers if you know them.

Here's the video. 7 songs bits from 7 games. Guess them, send them the answers in correct order and the first 10 to answer correctly and 10 more chosen from all others get a free game. Deadline Friday, September 14, 9:59 AM GMT.

I for one don't have a damn clue.
User AvatarI don't know any of the others, but #6 is Baldur's Gate.

User AvatarPerhaps BG2? Pretty sure it is not in BG. On the other hand 4 is in BG (The gobberling horde).

Perhaps all of the tracks are from BG games (or running on the same engine) or add-ons.
User AvatarHow do you guys know this! All parts sound like Pirates of the Caribbean to me.
User AvatarNext time you play a game, try to switch your speakers on ;-)

User AvatarWell, they say all fragments have something in common and they got the first (mostly) correct answer over 1.5h ago. Said the person confused one game with its sequel but that's acceptable under the circumstances. And they accept up to 3 entries per person, but won't tell anyone whether they got it right or wrong till it's all over.

[Edit after rereading.] Pardon, they said the person SWITCHED PLACES of a game with its sequel. So you have both a game and its sequel in there. And also all games are from the GOG catalog.

User AvatarThis is a who-answers-first contest with rewards, I don't get why you guys hint possible answers publicly.
User AvatarI for one am not competing. (Admittedly, I haven't hinted anything either, largely because I have no clue.) Not sure who from here was competing against the others either though. More of a challenge-turned-collaborative-effort maybe?
User AvatarSo, to contribute to this... If one is BG and it's somehow connected to all others and they're in the GOG catalog, the first thing to figure out is what may connect BG to a series. What comes to mind is Infinity, D&D, Black Isle, BioWare and Interplay. Now I could just come up with 5 games using Infinity (BG 1 and 2, IWD 1 and 2 and PS:T) and the group here doesn't list any others so that's down. BioWare would be ruled out since they'd just have the 2 BGs and the first NWN by them, Interplay, ugh, too many to dig through, though certainly also a possibility... That leaves us with Black Isle, which adds Fallout 2 and Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader to the 5 mentioned above, going by the lists here, making for precisely 7 games, and there's also that announcement about them being back which may be connected to this. Or D&D, which adds the first NWN (the 2nd is not in their catalog) and, well, I'm sure there's some other D&D game in there for the 7th.

Based on that, I'll say that if there's a Fallout 2 and/or Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader spotted in there, we know it's Black Isle, and if there's a NWN we know it's D&D (and are left with an empty 7th "slot"). And afterwards it'd be an issue of mixing and matching to get the order.

Of course, it's entirely possible that those first 10 correct answers have been given already, so past this point it'd be irrelevant who goes first, it'd still be luck of the draw for the other 10, so what Rola said would really become irrelevant :)
User AvatarNone of those are from Fallout 2.

As for why I just threw that out there, I only knew the one, so I was in no shape to win a contest I wasn't entering anyways.

User AvatarI'm almost sure #5 is Baldur's Gate. I've just played that game recently, and I remember hearing that tune in there.

EDIT: It's Planescape. Gah. I played it earlier this year and it's got a similar engine, don't judge me ;(
User AvatarSo so far we have BG tipped as #4, #5 or #6, eh? Fun :D
User AvatarAnswers. And apparently one user got all the song titles correct too, and will get double reward for it.
User AvatarIf he also got their FILENAMES correct (i.e. track###.acm) would he get triple rewards?

And quadruple for exact file size and CRC32!
