User AvatarI can not find a way to remove my account. I've email mobygames for help and received no response. I want my membership deleted.
User AvatarYou may be out of luck; the site has a quite old backend that never anticipated the caprices of modern user membership. Probably your account can have its name and password changed but your four game ratings are likely in here for good.
User AvatarCorrect, no way to remove an account currently
User AvatarDon't really see why should there be one, actually. (Would cause issues for the contribution crediting too.) MobyGames doesn't "collect personal information", it just displays what you put in and can change whenever you want.

That is, if you're talking about your user acount and not your developer page, which I see you added yourself anyway and, as all submitted information, is now part of the gaming archive/database we're building here, so can be modified but removing it would defeat the whole purpose.
User AvatarImagine Sciere or Unicorn Lynx deleting their account and everything they contributed.
User AvatarIf UL deleted his account, suddenly things would almost be PG-13 around here in the database!
User AvatarThanks. I have been in contact with Moby support and what you say is correct: there is no way of deleting an account. Had I known this fact when I signed up I wouldnt sign up. I`m positive there was nothing of the sort on their terms but alas, we`re all hostages now.

I have been advised to change all my details, make up stuff, which I think is ludicrous as it might disrupt the site. I mean, imagine everyone started making up stuff.

Here is Moby support advice:

There is no actual way to delete an account, all that you can do is to change all the info to something that has nothing to do with you.

User AvatarI think it was ludicrous of you not to think over the cons before you've joined this website.

May we ask for the reasons you want your account deleted (versus simply abandoning it or changing it's details to something random and untraceable to you)? We don't offer warez here, after all...

User AvatarChange your nickname to Pink Polka-dot Pandas.
Go to Privacy Settings and check box --> display my nickname instead of my real name.
Add random porn website link to Update about me.

Problem solved without deleting account.
User AvatarThanks. Thats helpful

Don't you feel you're being a little overdramatic? The amount of personal data you'll be leaving behind on this site is entirely negligible, and mostly entirely within your control. (How is the disruption of changing your details more ludicrous than the the disruption of deleting your account?)

There is no problem with everyone making up stuff, since the only information that matters here -- the game history information -- is all verified using external sources. Who we are is immaterial.

Wrong target audience, mate. Wrong target. :p

User Avatar@AndreaUrbanFox: What you should delete is your offensive avatar.

...and if you think MobyGames' account policy is odd, then check Wikipedia's.

Every time he will try to post nonsense content the moderators have to edit his post. Check out these misspellings.

User AvatarSo, what are we going to do about this nonsense?
User AvatarI'd suggest the same as with spammers.

Those spelling errors are not fixed. Nonsense means sem sentido in Portuguese language.

User AvatarI'll bet he uses Google.Translate, this may be the source of our misunderstanding. Although I find it a bit ironic that somebody who can't use English on communicative level nitpicks about typos.

However there's no excuse for crashing a "happy hollidays!" thread with site complains etc.
User AvatarFigured something was off. I have yet to find the perfect translate software that if a sentence is translated enough times it will always end up with the word "boobie".

Yeah, I make Oleg's wildest fantasies look Amish. :p
