Games such as Black & White and even Magic Carpet are somewhat like Populous. Good playing if you've never experienced them.

All of the early Bullfrog games are like Populous, right up until Peter Molyneux left.

I'll be frank and say I don't have high hopes for this. EA has wrecked so many great licenses over the years it's almost certain to suck.
