Note that I say 'usually'. For while I can't quite believe that I'm about to say it, I have to say that - at last - one company appears to have managed to do the impossible. To say that this game is or isn't better than GoldenEye would be disingenuous - GoldenEye is a game more than ten years old on a console generations behind current technology. Comparing Quantum Of Solace and GoldenEye like for like now would just be foolish. However, what I feel that I can say is that if the talented team of game developers who wowed gamers so long ago with that particular N64 title, set to work to produce it again now with current generation technology, then Quantum Of Solace would be the game that they would create. Or to put it another way: this is GoldenEye for a new generation. And praise doesn't come much higher than that.

With Quantum of Solace, Treyarch absolutely nailed the James Bond experience. You truly feel like you’re playing as Bond in the game, which would have been fairly impressive on its own. Coupled with an amazing shooting engine (courtesy of the COD4 engine), Quantum of Solace is the Bond title gamers have been waiting for since GoldenEye. The singleplayer campaign (at about 5-6 hours) is a bit short but the multiplayer mode should more than make up for it.

The best Bond game since Goldeneye on the N64. Quantum of Solace is a first/3rd person action shooter that doesn't try and shoehorn a bunch of gameplay modes into one game. It's fun and it's refreshing for a movie tie-in.

We are just a few weeks away from the movie release for Quantum of Solace, and I couldn’t be more excited. While the game may not completely capture our wildest dreams about playing Commander Bond, it does do a great job of capturing the atmosphere. The multiplayer aspects of the game feel familiar, and the game feels a bit on the short side, but the ability to experience some of the expanded moments of the upcoming movie, as well as Casino Royale is compelling.

I think it’s safe to say that QOS surpasses the gameplay of Goldeneye quite considerably especially in terms of level design. However the lack of features such as different mission objectives depending on difficulty, time attack modes for unlocking secrets and more quirks, still leaves Goldeneye leaps and bounds beyond what QOS offers. There’s a very solid game here and with the impressive AI and the basis of a good game here, means that any future Bond games can improve on what’s already been established. This is well worth playing – for an afternoon or two.

007: Quantum of Solace on paras Bond-peli sitten N64:n GoldenEyen, mikä kertoo kenties enemmän Bond-lisenssien yleisestä tasosta.

This game is certainly worth you time and effort. I could careless about any reviewer that tells you otherwise. I'm telling you, this is the best Bond game to hit store shelves in sometime. It brings a great storyline, it gives you actors/actresses, it flows really quickly (and intensely) and it gets you, the gamer, involved with it heavily. This is a fantastic Bond game. Add that to the fact that it has 12-player online play and you're going to be happy that someone finally got a movie license right.

Overall Quantum of Solace is a lot of fun play. I had a great time going through the campaign and then playing online against/with my friends. If you enjoyed the movies Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace then I would definitely recommend giving this game a try.

"Quantum Of Solace" is an odd mix. It just scrapes a 4 solely on the strength of its multiplayer, which has all the benefits of COD4- the fast gameplay, the lobby system etc, but also includes some great new modes, some of which involve Bond, and also the Golden Gun. The single player is criminally short and also includes some other quirky issues, both from a graphical and gameplay perspective, but can still be fun at points. It's definitely not better than Goldeneye, but QoS probably is the best Bond game since.

Quantum of Solace is a solid Bond title that should be worth a look from fans of the secret agent. However, the game does have some pretty glaring issues that bring it down.

Xbox 360Wonderwallweb.com
Quantum of Solace is a pretty mixed bag of a game, the single player experience while being fun to play is also fairly average at some points, in a sort of seen it all before way, however at other times it does inspire and these parts make it all feel worthwhile, should the developer bother to fix the online side then this just may be a game that you should consider paying for, even though it is based on a movie.

PlayStation 2IGN
Overall, Quantum of Solace on PlayStation 2 is not a title that should be passed on before giving it a try. While other versions are no doubt more visually pleasing, they can’t compare in terms of overall fun factor. The gameplay of QoS is more faithful to the heart of Bond and the stealth that it presents but also offers up plenty of gunplay and explosions to satiate those with a flair for action. There are plenty of issues like the slightly faulty cover system, disappointing AI and lack of multiplayer, but that doesn’t stop this Bond from being the most fun of the current crop.

Quantum of Solace won't be up for any "game of the year" awards, but it is a solid title that offers a satisfying, though elementary, single-player campaign and a strong, but perhaps niche, multiplayer experience. It's not a total return to form for the Bond franchise, but it seems to be headed in the right direction.

PlayStation 2GameZone
While it’s not as gorgeous as the next-generation version, Quantum of Solace for the PS2 is certainly able to handle the action just as well with enough moments to keep the game exciting. The game does have its share of problems that show up often but in the end there is more good here than bad. In other words, you will most definitely want to step into the shoes of this 007.

Once again, Quantum of Solace is more a victim of circumstance rather than a victim of bad design. All of the underpinnings for a great Bond experience are there and it makes me wonder what Treyarch could have done if they weren't tied to a movie narrative. Quantum of Solace is a good experience for Bond fans, but only as a rental.

Xbox 360GBase - The Gamer's Base

Xbox 360Xboxdynasty (XD)

Unfortunately, “decent” just doesn’t cut it right now. October alone delivered a non-stop lineup of A-grade releases and November isn’t going to be much different. It’s tough to recommend Quantum in the face of such stiff competition. If you’re looking for something quick and mindlessly entertaining to pass the time with until the next must-buy drops, Quantum of Solace will deliver. Otherwise, wait for the next release drought and grab this one as a bargain title; you won’t be disappointed.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy Quantum of Solace because I did, but this is coming from a huge Bond fan. The single player campaign was entertaining and boasted intuitive and responsive controls; our only grumble is its length. The campaign is way too short for any game these days; 6 hours is pretty absurd, and the game overall is saved by a fairly decent online mode, although, it's pretty generic. Rent this bad boy for sure, but spending £40 or $60 on it can only lead in to a rant about value for money. Good effort Treyarch, we look forward to seeing how your next Bond game will turn out.

Quantum of Solace would’ve benefited from a lengthier campaign; perhaps they could’ve packaged the whole story arc from Casino Royale into the game to give players more to do with Bond. There are certainly moments where you’ll feel as if you actually are Bond but for the majority of time, you’ll be wondering where all the fun is. Treyarch had all the right ideas, but the execution was sloppy and that won’t sit well for all those Bond fans who demand excellence.

Xbox 360GameLemon
This review may have been pretty negative overall, but Quantum of Solace is still a relatively decent game. The graphics are excellent for what they're worth on the PS2, and the animations are more or less smooth. In addition, QoS has some of the best music you'll ever hear in a Bond title. It's just that the game has its shaky moments and is pretty disappointing for a 007 game. But even if you don't enjoy Quantum of Solace, it will at the very least remind you of how great Bond used to be, and after a good romp through QoS, popping in the disc for Nightfire or Everything or Nothing will be that much more enjoyable.

Quantum of Solace isn’t the game that it should have been. It’s not bad by any means, but what brings it out of the pits of despair is the foundation of a much better game that we all know and love. The action is less compelling and the world that’s built around Bond doesn’t do much to enhance the fun factor. All of the additions do little to push the game ahead of other first-person shooters and instead take you out of the world of being Bond.

Unfortunate for Quantum of Solace, had it not been for a slightly confusing “story” and a slightly annoying cover system it could have been a great competitor. Although it doesn’t really bring anything new to the table of an already crowded genre, it still holds it’s own. With some positives like great looking weapons, voice acting from the actors themselves and fun multiplayer modes, Bond can make for a fun weekend game. But it’s negatives like a shorter than usual story, confusing story and repetitive gunplay that hold it back from competing with the likes of Ghost Recon and Gears. Don’t let this stop you from making Quantum a weekend rental, and by all means, if you’re a Bond fan you’ll probably want to pick this up since this is the first Bond game to give you the most authentic Bond experience. The 007 series has come a long way since Goldeneye, even though in my eyes Goldeneye is still the best one, and will always be one of the most influential games in the shooter genre.

I know it’s meant to be a linear shooter and for the most part it’s designed well but I still got a bit confused at times that Bond can do all these amazing things in the game yet he can’t open a door. Even velocaraptors can do that, 7/10 from me.

Xbox 360Good Game
you know in the first few hours, shooting a fire extinguisher to blind enemies was very bond and very cool – but towards the end of the game, barrels and explodable items where just everywhere, enemies were pretty much leaning on them. The best part about this game is the cover system – it’s really tight- we recommend turning the cover sensitivity up to medium-fast for the best experience. 7/10.

At the end of the day Quantum of Solace is a pretty decent game but it is hard to recommend because so many parts of it are regurgitated from other games we have all played so many times before. It is also very short, offering around 5 hours of single player missions, most of which appear to be based on the last movie. The cover system is a nice idea poorly executed and I wish if developers were introducing this that they would at least spend some time play testing and fine tuning it before release. Nothing is more annoying that running up to an object for cover only to find you are still standing upright while getting shot in the head multiple times.

Daniel Craig is supposed to be a Bond of subtlety, not the type to use gadgets or ask for his vodka martini shaken, but does that mean we can never get to really use a rocket launcher? After all, it’s bad enough that the tense poker game between Bond and Le Chiffre was frustratingly teased at more than once in between missions without being playable, but after spending half an hour in an added-on gun battle through the heart of Europe, I’m curious as to why a few more ‘blow up anything that moves’ couldn’t have been added on. Although the adventure is fun and the action is exciting, when the game is over there is little else to be done and no mission really compels you to play through multiple times, unlike the famous Facility.

With all of the great games coming out this holiday, it's hard to imagine how Quantum of Solace can compete. I came away just as disappointed as I did with the movie. There was a lot of potential here that wasn't realized. I can't help but feel that they meant to make a Casino Royale game (about 75 percent of the levels are based on it) and Quantum of Solace tagged along for the ride. Treyarch is a talented studio having put out a number of fantastic Call of Duty games. If anyone can put together a decent Bond shooter, it's them. Quantum of Solace is not the game that does that. Maybe next time.

The lack of any of 007's famous gadgets and toys also make this games only real tie to James Bond the characters and the story. With the range of great titles around at the moment, you might rather rent this for a week and see how it sits with you. The ultimate Bond experience it is not.

With Quantum of Solace, Beenox had the tough task of porting over one of the most technically demanding engines over to the less powerful Wii. The result is a game that shines at its core thanks to an impressive Bond feel but is held back by technical issues. When Quantum of Solace works—when the framerate holds up and the motion controls aren’t shaky—the game is a ton of fun. Unfortunately, these technical issues—which don’t always occur but occur way too frequently—detract from the solid core game that Quantum of Solace tries to be.

Quantum of Solace on mainio lisäys Bond-pelien pitkään listaan. Yksinpelin suurin ongelma on heikko juonen käyttö. Bond-lisenssin käyttö räiskintäpelissä on sinänsä ongelmallista, sillä elokuvien ja kirjojen Bond ei oikein sovellu jatkuvaan räiskimiseen. Esimerkiksi Gears of Warin köriläät ovat paremmin kotonaan jatkuvassa luotisateessa.

Unfortunately as a whole package, Quantum of Solace doesn’t quite cut it. It’s a decent game held back by the constraints of its license, which should be the thing that elevates the product. Treyarch did their best with what they had, but it’s not enough to elevate this game to superspy status.

Ultimately this game is little more than a bit of interactive film fun, aimed squarely at the masses. Its what you'd expect - a cardboard cut-out which has been furiously polished. Its playable, its easy, its simple, its entertaining, and its got a bit of good multiplayer; but it wouldn't challenge an amateur gamer and it'll most likely be back in the box and filed away as "done with" faster than a day in the office.

Relentlessly unoriginal but well turned out. The online multiplayer is robust enough to offset the slender single player story, and Bond hasn't carried off a firefight so well since GoldenEye. Not essential, then, but worth a second glance.

Quantum of Solace isn't the game that it should have been. It's not bad by any means, but what brings it out of the pits of despair is the foundation of a much better game that we all know and love. The action is less compelling and the world that's built around Bond doesn't do much to enhance the fun factor. All of the additions do nothing to push the game ahead of other first-person shooters and instead take you out of the world of being Bond.

Quantum of Solace: The Game is actually well above average where licensed material is concerned. As a shooter on its on merits, however, it’s a fairly standard experience helped a bit because it features James Bond.

Although its developers failed to create an exceptional game, Quantum of Solace's first-person shooting, enjoyable cover system and decent multiplayer modes make it worth playing.

PlayStation 3Playstation Illustrated
All in all, Quantum of Solace has enough in the package to make it worth a purchase if you must have a James Bond game, but as a standalone title, it doesn't come close to its competition. To use at least one Bond analogy, this game is as much fun as The Living Daylights with Timothy Dalton. While it is short on style and content, it has plenty of nonsensical action to at least make it entertaining.

It's sad but true, but Quantum of Solace is yet again a mediocre Bond game. It's not abusively bad, but if you're looking for a good shooter, you should probably look elsewhere. The Bond addict should also reconsider buying this, because I don't think 4 hours of singleplayer gameplay and some hours of online gameplay are worth € 65. You decide.

Xbox 360IGN UK
A true blockbuster of a game, Quantum of Solace is loud, dumb but sadly all-too-forgettable. The Bond licence goes a good way to hiding the game’s lack of ideas and for the four hours the single-player campaign lasts there’s no denying it’s a solid blast, but ultimately there’s better ways to spend your money this autumn.

Quantum of Solace certainly showed some great promise before its release (in preview events, Activision made sure to show off the absolute best levels in the game) and the console versions play a bit more solidly, but the PC port is one that should be avoided. Credit goes to Beenox for pushing through and making all the online play options available, but without some solid controls or some way to really pull in hardcore PC shooter players, the multiplayer modes completely miss the mark. Maybe the next Activision Bond game will show an improvement, but this one is best left sitting on the store shelf.

Xbox 360Game Chronicles
007: Quantum of Solace isn’t a terrible game but it is certainly not the game I expected it to be. Treyarch spent too much time trying to convert a WWII engine into something viable for a secret agent game, and we end up with a gun-toting thug in a tux rather than the sophisticated secret agent we all love from the books and the movies. There are a few moments of gaming pleasure, but this latest Bond is mostly a repetitive and often frustrating shooter that barely qualifies as a weekend rental.

This is not Quantum of Solace. Everything in this game seems to be wrong, from the plot to all of the different aspects the developers added that are blatant rip offs of other games. The James Bond game series hasn’t been the same for quite some time, maybe next time we will get a good James Bond game.

Ultimately James Bond: Quantum of Solace is an entertaining game, but lacking in some areas such as visuals and single player game length. If you're a fan of the movies you may want to check this out, but just don't expect too much.

Odd moves like assigning reload to the Nunchuk when movement and throwing a grenade is already assigned there makes for some awkward moments in Quantum of Solace. The problems mentioned earlier with glitchy areas in the game translate to the controls. The game is at its best when it takes control over basic functions like seeking cover and targeting, opening the door for a more approachable, user-friendly FPS experience. Trying to wear the cloak of a hard-core FPS falls flat for this console, and is implausible considering the poorly implemented A.I. Controls feeling muddy or glitchy are just the worm in the apple, and its a shame considering how nice that apple shines from the outside. We're big Bond fans from way back, and we'd love to like Quantum of Solace for Wii. The system needs more quality, adult action games, but this just doesn't pass muster.

Fair is really the best way to describe James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace. It won’t blow you away, but it will make a good rental and prologue to the Quantum of Solace experience. It’s certainly the best Bond game to come out since GoldenEye 007, which isn’t really saying much, but that is still a bit of good news for longtime fans. Plus you get a creepy model of Craig Daniels that randomly glances at you when you’re behind cover. Excellent.

WiigamrReview
Although Quantum of Solace seems to be the best Bond game since Goldeneye, it still does not live up to it’s older brother’s shadow. All the facets of a great game are there, but they are presented in such a way that it is kind of soured for the player. On one hand you have a great online and local multiplayer experience, which resembles the fun of Goldeneye, and even wants to be like Goldeneye with levels like “the facility”. On the other you have a sloppy one player game, with hit or miss graphics, and a few technical issues. I would definitely say that you should give this game a chance, as it may be worth your while.

Just like the other versions, the game’s story is split about 40/60 between Solace and scenes from Casino Royale, respectively, which is a little disappointing; we liked Casino Royale and all, but this feels like false advertising. And while the game has nice graphics for a late PS2 game, it makes the stunningly gorgeous Bond women appear to be stunningly made out of melting clay. Add to that the complete lack of multiplayer, and you're left with the damning praise of "it's OK… for a movie game."

What playfulness Bond lacks in gunplay, he makes up for in globe-trotting. From stalking in a Prague opera house to the casino in Montenegro to a striking finale in an eco-hotel, Quantum blows raspberries at COD: World at War. Sadly, some locations are wasted on gimmicky film re-enactments: the building site chase and a poisoned stumble through Casino Royale are piffling two-minute distractions. This was the perfect opportunity to finally break the curse of GoldenEye. Alas, digital Brosnan remains the king by some distance.

Quantum of Solace offers some good times for online fanatics, , and the single-player game is fairly robust. However, the framerate stutters are very annoying, and the fact that local split-screen multiplayer exhibits completely horrendous graphics is cause for concern. Something like Metroid Prime 3 offers a better single-player experience (with far better visual appeal), and there are better online Wii games. Quantum of Solace is ultimately a passable shooter that, as a package, has been done better elsewhere.

PlayStation 3Gamestyle
Quantum of Solace is by no means a poor first person experience, its just rather bland and decidedly average. Whether this is due to the limitations of the license or the failure of the developer to harness the potential of the Bond universe, we may never know. However the end result is an experience that fails to endure once completed, either in your memory or the drive of your console.

Xbox 360Yiya

Xbox 360Adrenaline Vault, The (AVault)
A watered-down feeling brings about Bond’s downfall. Quantum of Solace is a capable shooter, but strip away the license and it’s as generic as they come. Goldeneye earned its stripes by being the first fun console shooter, but the problem with Quantum is that it wants to be all things at once – a successor to Goldeneye and a Call of Duty clone with a killer license. Don’t worry - “James Bond Will Return.” Maybe next time he’ll leave us shaken and stirred.

Xbox 360Hooked Gamers
Quantum of Solace is not as good as Goldeneye 007 but nostalgia has tainted that game completely and any game matching up against it is in for unfair comparisons. Regardless of the comparison Quantum of Solace is a mediocre game that has some fun moments. However, overall the game does not have enough going for it to recommend it over other current first person shooters. Shooter fans are going to be put off by the generic gameplay and hardcore Bond fans by the overabundance of shooting and the heavily modified story but maybe Treyarch and Activision were aiming for a different group of gamers entirely with Quantum of Solace and maybe, just maybe they will love it.
60
Xbox 360EL33TONLINE
The problem with Quantum of Solace is that there is no focal point for players to latch onto - no office water cooler talk will result from ‘this great weapon’ or ‘that exciting set piece.’ Treyarch, however, know how to deliver great feedback, resulting in a game that is satisfying and fun to play, meaning it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that you could finish the game in one or two sittings and then pick the game up again for another play through. The action is provided on a blank canvas, though - this could be any game, with any protagonist in any setting and it would be the same. It would be unfair to call the game bland, but the term ‘featureless’ does come to mind. Quantum of Solace could quite easily be enjoyed alongside the films and is the perfect companion piece if you’re looking for an interactive component to your Bond experience. Just don’t expect Bond to be there.

Quantum of Solace is certainly one of the better Bond games in recent times and 007 enthusiasts will certainly get a kick out of what the game has to offer. You never really get a sense that you're playing as a James Bond type character for most of the game however and for most of the time it simply feels like a regular FPS. The problem is as an FPS it fails to stand out at a time of year where quality FPS titles aren't in short supply. The decision not to include a local multiplayer experience seems a strange one and the mediocre Xbox Live and System Link options certainly aren't as appealing as the brief single-player experience.

Quantum of Solace is a flawed game, but not a bad one. Some people may find that it's just what they're looking for, but for most of use, biding our time in hopes of something a little more put together is the wiser choice, even if it does mean skipping the latest chance to be James Bond. My final recommendation - Give it a rental first.

Quantum of Solace is a pretty slick, well presented and polished product. The gameplay is rather simple, but the game is aimed at the simple end of the market. Yet I feel that James Bond deserves more than this, more than a cheap and very short punt into the cheap seats. There's the hint of good things to come. But given the time since Activision nabbed the James Bond license we might have expected much more.

Even when you factor in the way Daniel Craig's James Bond has been a rougher, more action-oriented take on the character, Bond is a spy. He should be out doing ill, spy-related acts of espionage as he spies it up with other spies. Instead, he's cast as an almost-faceless gunman yet again. If you were hoping that Activision's take on the license would be any more faithful than most of the games that EA put out while it held the license, you'll probably be disappointed. But on its own, Quantum of Solace is a passable shooter in a world that's filled with much, much better ones.

So what does a relevant Bond game look like? A lot like Solace...but a tad longer, and with something more than me-too multiplayer. Keep the theatrics -- just tone 'em down a little: Bond's always been more about subtlety, with Bruckheimer moments reserved for the appropriate times. In Solace, it's the rule, not the exception. If the game weren't already tied to two movies, the developers could've just slapped a GoldenEye 2 label on the box. Even so, GoldenEye's heyday is long gone, and Solace relies too much on nostalgia and imitation to be anything close to the next shooter milestone.

Quantum of Solace is pretty much what youýd expect from a movie-licensed shooter. It ticks all the boxes on a purely surface level, but fails to allow the player any kind of expression or creativity during actual gameplay. You spend the entire game doing what you're told - go through THIS doorway, press THIS button, take cover behind THIS corner and shoot THESE enemies before you can move on to the next area and start it all over. There's plenty of variety in the environments, lots of explosions and general razzle-dazzle but it's all over before bedtime and you'll have forgotten about it by morning.

All in all, Quantum of Solace feels like a real missed opportunity. With a little more time and effort, the Call of Duty 4 engine could have been optimized for the system, eliminating much of the jaggedness and slowdown you’ll experience while playing the game. The addition of a cover system and third-person combat is great, when it works properly. The multiplayer is solid, but your options are extremely limited. Even the majority of the single-player experience doesn’t actually come from the film it’s named after. While Quantum of Solace is a somewhat entertaining experience, it fails to go that extra step necessary to make it a great game. Instead, it just becomes another name on the long list of games that have failed to unseat the longstanding king of Bond video games.

Considering that Activision passed over the release of Casino Royale to spend more time developing this, you have to wonder how it ended up being so lacking. Indeed, even if you're the biggest Bond fan in the world then, there's really only one option here: don't bother. In fact, next-gen consoles might be a mixed blessing for the Bond franchise. The temptation is to make sure that the environments and models match the movies as closely as possible, but doing so takes more time and resources with each technical leap forward, and there are only so many months in the development cycle. Hopefully Bond's next foray into the gaming world will deliver an authentic and compelling Bond experience, not just a decent but too-short shooter with some fancy window dressing.

The game works on a functional level, we've got to give it that because we don’t give truly low scores to games that play stably and smoothly, with auto-updating features and so on. Quantum of Solace contains a number of exciting moments straight from the new 007 film but on the Nintendo Wii the controls are just far too sluggish to make this a fun alternative version. While the level design does allow for some entertaining moments, technical flaws aplenty will remind you that this game could have been a lot better than this.

That's because in a genre as super-competitive as the shooter, it's easy for minor elements to prove to be the deciding factor, but when it comes to Quantum of Solace, the problems are blatant and fundamental. As a piece of interactive merchandise for the masses, it does its job: it's polished, intuitive to control, and approximates the Bond Experience, albeit with about as much subtlety as Vesper Lynd's neckline. For everyone else though, it's brainless, dull, and ridiculously easy. Rather than giving the Bond game its Casino Royale moment, Activision and Treyarch have simply carried on in the joyless tradition of dumbed-down shooters designed for thickos, and GoldenEye has never seemed so far away.

Even Treyarch's Call of Duty 3 controls better than Quantum of Solace, and Bond isn't a launch game like COD3 was. We've played and reviewed lots of "bad" games on Wii, but unlike those before it Quantum of Solace feels like a title that has a real soul to it, and somewhere in the mess of unprecedented frame issues, visual bugs, and sloppy port code is a game that really could have been a blast to play. Instead, it's one you want to avoid at all costs, as Bond's first Wii effort doesn't deliver over some of Activision's previous (and upcoming) efforts on Wii.

The only conceivable sense of challenge and accomplishment in Quantum of Solace, besides the notion of easy Achievement Points, comes from the online-only multiplayer matches. It has 12 decently designed maps and customizable loadouts, but is anyone going to bother with Gears of War 2 on the market? If you really want the Bond experience, do yourself a favor and spend your dollars on a copy of Casino Royale, a ticket for the Quantum of Solace film, and a tasty bucket of popcorn. I guarantee that there will be far more pleasure in that tub of buttery goodness than a night with this hodge-podge of mediocrity.

For those of us wanting to relive the Goldeneye 007 experience, Quantum of Solace provides some brief, cheap thrills. Yes, Treyarch does manage to resuscitate the old Nintendo 64 Bond title, but this release proves that sometimes it’s best just to let the dead rest in peace.

Middelmådigt i sine bedste passager, dårligt i sine værste, og ikke ét øjeblik mere end urimeligt ligegyldigt.

As with most movie licence titles, QoS is an average experience, plagued by problems, that will undoubtedly sell well due to the advertising campaign and corresponding blockbuster. The same can be said for multi-format mainstream Wii titles. It is by no means a good game, but will sell well because the legions of casual gaming Wii owners will see it as a recognisable brand and buy it to play in short bursts.

Quantum of Solace never manages to be a Bond game: at the tiniest of nudges, it panics and starts unleashing gunfire. It's clumsy, it's messy, it's not much fun and most of the time, it's not even the right film.

People seem to be torn on the quality of Quantum of Solace, the latest Bond film. No one, however, is undecided about the quality of Quantum of Solace the video game. It's a dreary, repetitive affair that never makes you feel excited to be in the shoes of James Bond. I'll stick with Everything and Nothing, thanks. Skip It.

As outlined, short of observing the entire development tenure of any given title, we can’t understand what lead the team to each decision. That’s no excuse, though. GoldenEye hanging over your shoulders like an infatuated orangutan? Tough. A minimum level of competence when handling such a series is expected - nay, required - and to produce something of such flimsiness; something that has abjectly refused to acknowledge any and all worthwhile lessons of the last ten years and seemingly gone out of its way to include only those that should have been ignored, is a stunning achievement in itself. Quantum of Solace is the lowest common denominator; it’s not even broken, it’s just bad. If the score below is meant to be a recommendation, mark it up by eight points if you’re an aspiring developer and play it inside out. Everyone else? Avoid this travesty at all costs.
