The Video Game Critic
Whether you're playing against the computer or up to five friends, the competition is always intense, especially around the goal. But what surprised me most about FIFA is its amazing audio. If you have a surround sound system, you'll definitely want crank it up for this game. The crowd sound effects are remarkably clear, and when the chants resonate through the speakers, you really do feel "in the game". FIFA's rich option screens let you adjust the camera angles, weather conditions, game length, penalties, and music. Just be sure to change the playing mode to "Sim", because the "Action" mode is crazy fast - my friends couldn't keep up with it. As a nice bonus, halftime feature videos of "great moments in soccer". Sure to please even non-fans, FIFA is one of the best soccer titles I've ever come across.
Video Games & Computer Entertainment
Been waiting for a reason to buy a 3DO, sports fans? Look no further than EA Sports' FIFA International Soccer which, thanks to the absolutely incredible capabilities of the 3DO, takes sports game into an entirely new dimensional.
Wow! EA is really starting to heat up the 3DO with games like Madden, Road Rash and now FIFA. Even gamers who couldn't care less for soccer are gonna appreciate the game's smooth play control and breathtaking visuals. It's a damn-near perfect game!
FIFA International Soccer 3DO has made me a soccer fan (at least in the video game sense) and this is no small feat, I can assure you. For soccer fans and 3DO owners, you will have died and gone to Heaven when you get your hands on this game. The gameplay that has made the FIFA series an incredible success in the 16-bit world has made the translation intact and Extended Play Productions has harnessed all of the graphic power of the 3DO to produce the most incredible soccer game ever made.
For those of you who have been waiting for great sports games for the 3DO - the best has arrived. Now you can get as close to an international soccer match as possible without worrying about a riot.
Digital Press - Classic Video Games
Pretty much everything EA put out on the console is great, but "FIFA" is different. It's still one of the most immensely enjoyable sports games ever produced, dominating then and now. When the only real complaint is with the menu system, you know you've found a classic.
So, consequently the actual process of playing FIFA on the 3DO feels more like the repetitive pressing of the "C" button as you and your opponent take turns playing 11-a-side "Pong" on a big grass 'court', using your feet as racquets. No, pardon me, FIFA on the 3DO actually plays more like a game older than "Pong", a game that is both fitting and ironic: "Foosball".
