Shock Wave 2: Beyond the Gate

3DO space jockeys will quickly become addicted to SW 2's ferocious, intelligent action. This one's definitely worth buying.

Yet another exceptional title for the 3DO. I would rank this one on par, quality-wise, with Wing Commander 3... Actually, I would have to say it's better than WC3 since this game actually has pretty easy controls to master. As for being a sequel... forget the first Shockwave. This game leaves its predecessor in the dust. Sound is very good, graphics are some of the best I've seen on the platform, and play control is right-on (with small exception).

Fans of the first Shockwave, rejoice! Shockwave 2 is twice as fun. Unlike Shockwave in which you had only one vehicle, you now have three, all with their own attributes. The story line of Shockwave 2 is interesting and makes you feel as if you are an actual part of the game. The video used in the cinemas is surprisingly clear for the 3DO. Fans of Shockwave will definitely find Shockwave 2 just as exciting and fun, if not more so than the original. Pick it up!

This is a fine game, with much improved scrolling and some nifty graphics. The increase in battlefield size, the addition of 45 minutes of full-motion story and the ability to customize your ship put Shockwave 2 a cut above the competition.
