A-10 Cuba! is the follow-up to the highly successful A-10 Attack! flight simulator, one of the finest ever produced for any consumer platform. A-10! is extremely realistic -- possibly too much so. The famous Warthog is flyable and even can be mastered, but its behavior is so authentic, probably only experienced real-world pilots will truly conquer it. In the real world, pilots have died flying this beast of an aircraft, this flying tank, and full reverence to those flyers is observed in the documentation and in respect to the degree of realism instilled in the software. You won't find a more true-to-life military flight sim anywhere outside a military training base. The attention to detail will astound you.

Right. A-10 Cuba is like a breath of fresh air. It's almost like discovering the flight sim for the very first time. Sod all your rotatey bitmaps and stretched pixelscape texture bending: here we have perfection in polygons, and the longer you play the bloody thing the more perfect it becomes... until it's so unbelievably brilliant that you enter a weird 'mind-loop' and your head goes all squiffy. Mine has. Has yours? If it hasn't, then you haven't played the game properly. Go back and have another go. I'm right and you're wrong, it's as simple as that. And I'm not even willing to enter into debate about it. A-10 Cuba, as far as I'm concerned, is one of the best flight sims I've ever played. Indeed it might even be the best flight sim I've ever played.

A-10 Cuba! kan flygas med både tangentbord och mus men att använda joystick rekommenderas starkt. Ingen avancerad sak behövs men har du gas och twist-funktion är det ett plus. A-10 Cuba är, kort och gott, det absolut roligaste som kommit ut på flygsimulatormarknaden. En ruskigt stor nackdel med spelet är dock att det, hör och häpna, inte finns någon tryckt manual! Användarna hänvisas till en kortfattad on-line-manual istället vilket är skandal i mina ögon. Fler uppdrag och en ordentlig manual hade gett spelet en femma. Nu får det nöja sig med en lekfull fyra istället.

If you’ve been looking for the ultimate flight simulator then A-10 Cuba! is for you. If you’ve been looking for a hardcore military fighter game, A-10 Cuba! is for you. If you’re a pilot or just know what things are and do this game is for you. If you aren’t any of the above then the game will probably frustrate the living hell out of you. You’ll probably enjoy it once you master what you’re doing but if you’re not the patient type then I strongly recommend steering clear of this game.

It's one thing to create an ultra-realistic flight simulation, but it's quite another to design it so that novice to intermediate pilots won't feel intimidated. And while it's great for a sim to be as realistic as possible - it would be slammed by every serious flight sim fanatic in the world if it weren't - that doesn't mean there's no place for options that allow newbies to fine-tune the degree of realism, or for a well-organized manual to help them understand the myriad weapons, gauges, and controls on a modern attack jet. And for it to qualify as a first-rate product, it also needs features such as a mission editor, wingmen you can communicate with, and a campaign mode, to name a few.

Die Betonung liegt ganz klar auf Auswahl und Beherrschung der Waffensysteme und weniger auf fliegerischem Können. So hebt sich dieses Spiel angenehm von den leichtgewichtigen Actionsimulationen der letzten Zeit ab. Wenn Sie keine Probleme haben, etliche Tastenkombinationen im Schlaf zu beherrschen, sich mit der antiquierten Optik anfreunden können und zwölf Einsätze nicht für zu wenig erachten, ist A-10 Cuba! eine spielerisch beachtenswerte Alternative zu Sierras Silent Thunder.

The bottom line is, A-10 Cuba! disappoints. With 12 missions, you feel the $50 you paid for was the privilege to repeat tedious missions. Though the graphics do not excite, the flight-model will give hours of fun to the serious flight-sim gamer. The inclusion of cooperative missions, while exciting, is fun only if you can find someone to play with you. I am sure experienced flight-sim fans will enjoy A-10 Cuba!. The rest of us are better served elsewhere, perhaps with X-Wing Versus TIE Fighter?

Bei A-10 Cuba! werde ich das Gefühl nicht los, daß hier komplett an den Spielern vorbeientwickelt wurde. Ein sehr realistisches Flugmodell reicht nämlich nicht mehr aus, um sich gegen die erstklassige Konkurrenz zu behaupten. Sierras Silent Thunder ist diesem Spiel in fast jedem Punkt überlegen - sei es bei Grafik, Sound, Handling oder Ausstattung. Das englischssprachige "Handbuch" in Form einer Help-Datei ist geradezu eine Unverschämtheit.
