Overall, A-Train is an enjoyable game, guaranteed to keep you occupied for weeks if not months. If you can't wait until Sim City 2000 is released at the end of the year, then give it a try.

Somit ist A-Train alles andere als ein Spiel für zwischendurch, doch Eisenbahner, die keine Angst vor anspruchsvollen Wirtschaftssimulationen haben, sollten getrost auf diesen Zug aufspringen!

All in all, A-Train is an enjoyable game that, while not for everyone, will certainly appeal to fans of other Maxis titles.

First of all, this is a game that only true sim fans will probably enjoy as it is a very time-intensive game and requires a lot of experimenting with the placement of the basic city components. I like the 3-D Mode where you can ride one of the trains while viewing the surroundings. This is a cool idea! Not a game for me, but still a sound product for it's audience.

All in all, the game is well worth playing. Those of you that played Railroad Tycoon will feel at home here but might get bored after a while. The last part also goes for the rest of you, but you will have fun the longest. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a boring game, it’s just that the long-term-playing experience could have been better. Over all, I give this game 3 points.

Selecting icons and guiding pointers is handled via the joypad, and is probably not the most efficient way to handle a PC-style interface. However, the game is largely enjoyable and, should your passion be trains, or even management sims, you won't be disappointed.

PlayStationAll Game Guide
Overall, A-Train is a game that only certain players will enjoy. If you really like other games published by Maxis (SimCity) then you might like this game. Just be warned that it may be overly complicated for even the most hardcore simulation fans. Don't believe the package when it says that this game is for ages 6 and over -- a child could never figure this out.

Although it may be a great tool for building engineers, A Train just doesn't roll with the same FunFactor or other sim games. The graphics are simple, with two-color plains to construct your railroad on and the happy-go-lucky music isn't helpful. This game won't appeal to many, so rent it first. For better sim fun, try choo-choo-choosing another title, like Theme Park.

A unique and heart-warming game (no, seriously!) DOS Sam Jeffreys Bronze Star Contributing Member (3316)
Although aging now, this is still a damn fine railroad sim. DOS Steve Hall Bronze Star Contributing Member (322)
