I’ve wondered what an Agatha Christie game would be like. Would a game satisfy fans who expect strict adherence to the book? Would it be possible to add new elements to an already intricate story without creating confusion? And what do you do about an ending where half the players already know who the murderer is because they’ve read the book?
WindowsQuandary (Nov, 2005)
And Then There Were None, is the first in what I hope will be a long series of adventure games to be based on the Agatha Christie murder mysteries. It's a great introduction, and sets a high standard. Christie fans, detective game fans, and adventure game fans won't want to miss this.
WindowsAdventurearchiv (Dec 11, 2005)
Agatha Christie fans will be delighted by the closeness to the novel and mystery fans to find a game to rack their brains, keeping suspense up to the very last scene. Seasoned adventure gamers finally won't feel unchallenged and enjoy the replay value. 'And then there were None' is a game, which runs problem free even on less modern computers. A shining prelude of the Agatha Christie series planned by TAC, to which one can look forward unconditionally. It's a capturing, logical story with several possible endings. No reason thus not to recommend this classic whodunnit most warmly to all those, who somehow from afar fancy the role of a hobby sleuth.
WindowsPelit (Jan, 2006)
Käyttöliittymä on perinteisen toimiva.
WindowsAdventure Lantern (Oct, 2005)
I thoroughly enjoyed Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None despite the flaws. If you love a great "Whodunnit" with an engaging storyline, then this game will be a wonderful addition to your collection.
WindowsAdventure Europe (Jan 22, 2006)
And Then There Were None is one of the best adventure games released this year, and if it weren’t for a few naďve gameplay flaws, it could have been one of the best adventure games ever. Fans of murder mysteries should not miss this one. It is great to know that The Adventure Company has acquired the rights for Agatha Christie mysteries and that they plan to release a new Agatha Christie adventure game soon. With a few improvements here and there the next Agatha Christie game could turn into a classic!
WindowsJust Adventure (Nov, 2005)
Agatha Christie needs no introduction. As the best-selling detective/mystery writer in history, she has been outsold only by Shakespeare and the bible – and they both had a head start of a few centuries! And Then There Were None (aka Ten Little Indians) is her most well-known and popular thriller and has been enjoyed by millions (coincidentally, it’s also my personal favorite!). The Christie oeuvre has always been fertile ground for an adventure game, but for unknown reasons – with the exception of Sierra’s exceptional Colonel’s Bequest – for over two decades the adventure genre seems to have been bereft of Christie-style detective mysteries. But finally, The Adventure Company and AWE Games have shouldered the monumental responsibility of creating an adventure game that must not only do honor to Lady Agatha’s name, but also introduce both a new generation of readers and a large contingent of her life-long fans to a new and different way of visualizing her classic works.
WindowsComputer Gaming World (CGW) (Jan, 2006)
Still, clever mysteries and a classic ‘30s-era setting far outweigh the drawbacks of stiff animations and linearity problems. Unlike the book, ATTWN forces you to figure stuff out to progress—making it ideal for true armchair sleuths.
WindowsAdventurespiele (Jan 26, 2006)
WiiCubed3 (Feb 07, 2008)
Whilst Zack & Wiki is the Wii’s first true puzzle-based point-and-click game, Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None proves to be the system’s first proper out-and-out PC-style adventure, complete with a classic gripping tale filled full of intrigue and mystery. The fact that it all comes wrapped up in an impressive package with intuitive motion controls only helps to make what was already a good game even better. Fans of the genre will be pleased by this strong first step into the adventure world…
WindowsGame Captain (Dec 18, 2005)
ATTWN, the game, not only builds beautifully upon the Christie premise, but also takes some twists and turns of its own, including presenting a different killer than did the book. Using famed writer and game creator Lee Sheldon, the development team went to considerable trouble to both honor Christie's work and make an interactive game that would bring a fresh approach to this delightful murder mystery. Generally, they have succeeded quite nicely.
WindowsGameZone (Nov 04, 2005)
I may be wrong, but I believe this is the first commercial computer game featuring a mystery by Agatha Christie. If there have been others I’d like to know about them, so drop me a line. I don’t know why her mysteries haven’t been used before, maybe this is the first time her estate has given permission to use her work. Anyway, it’s about time, because Agatha Christie’s mysteries are a perfect fit for adventure games.
WindowsGame Over Online (Dec 05, 2005)
All in all, Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None, feels incomplete. It feels like developer Awe Games worked out all of the dramatic scenes in the game, but then had trouble figuring out how to incorporate puzzles into the story, and then ran out of time before they could come up with an answer. As a result, the puzzles in And Then There Were None are equal parts laughable, bizarre, and inconsequential, and the game isn’t one you’ll likely enjoy if you buy adventures to test out your “little grey cells” (to quote another Agatha Christie character). But if you enjoy adventures simply to take part in a story, then And Then There Were None works out well enough, adapting as it does a time-honored and engrossing book, and putting you center stage in it.
WindowsGameplay (Benelux) (Dec, 2005)
INTRIGANTE.
WindowsDeaf Gamers (2006)
Point 'n' click adventure games are not that common these days and when one comes along they usually tend to be mediocre. Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None is definitely one of the better ones we've seen over the last few years though and fans of the genre should definitely pick up a copy. There are some aspects of the game that could have been better such as character models, different screen resolutions to choose from and the cutscenes should have been subtitled, but on the whole it's a good game that fans of the genre will enjoy even if they haven't read the book. At just under £20 it's nicely priced too which does compensate somewhat for the brevity of the game. Here's hoping a patch is released to add subtitles to the cutscenes so that deaf gamers can fully appreciate the game.
WiiGamigo (Feb 12, 2008)
WindowsGBase - The Gamer's Base (Dec 21, 2005)
This is an interesting and somewhat fun game, but it will appeal to a rather select audience and not the masses. If it sounds like your cup of tea, it probably is. If, however, your tastes run more along the lines of Doom and World of Warcraft it probably isn’t for you.
WindowsAdventure Corner (Jan 30, 2006)
WindowsPlayback (May, 2006)
WindowsGameStar (Germany) (Dec, 2005)
Story, Charaktere, Dialoge – alles prima!
WindowsGameswelt (Dec 14, 2005)
WindowsGameZebo (May 09, 2008)
Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None is a challenging game that should appeal to murder mystery fans and casual gamers who might want to try their skill at a slower-paced head-scratcher with lots of atmosphere, character and intrigue.
WindowsAdventures - Kompakt (2006)
WiiDarkZero (Feb 18, 2008)
The fact that I am a big Agatha Christie fan in no way affects the score I will give, as I believe that this is just as accessible to newcomers as it is to both Agatha Christie and fans of the genre. It is obviously suited to a more mature audience, which only serves to further expand the Wii’s appeal to the worldwide market. Apart from those character animations it rarely gives me reason to fault it, but may take some perseverance to stay motivated until completion. Once you’re sucked into the plot, it is thoroughly entertaining.

And then There Were None is not a perfect Wii game. It’s frustrating at points, it looks like a three-year-old PC port (mainly because that’s pretty much what it is), but it’s an important title none the less. It will hopefully show there’s more to the machine than cutesy mascots and tech-demo sport sims, that it can cater to an older audience. It is also a solid platform to build upon – here is undeniable proof (as if Zak & Wiki was not enough) that the old Adventure template can work on this console. When it’s all said and done, people will not mention AWE’s wheezing port as a notable title for the Wii. But it might just be yet.
WindowsIGN (Dec 13, 2005)
Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None is a decent adaptation of a good book to video game format. There are certainly some choices made with the design that I find uninspired, but for the most part, gamers that enjoys the Agatha Christie mystery will enjoy taking part in event. Just remember, it's basically an adventure game, not a mystery where players can actually discover the bad guy and win the game. It's about being part of the story as it unfolds and solving some decent puzzles along the way.
WindowsFOK!games (Nov 20, 2005)
Hoewel And Then There Were None niet heel orgineel is, of heel vernieuwend, is het toch een leuke adventure. Anderzijds kan And Then There Were None voor een leuk avondje adventure gamen zorgen.

An enjoyable adventure game based on a good story, just missing a layer of polish, and with some distracting political correctness changes.
WindowsGameguru Mania (Dec 19, 2005)
Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None is a mystery adventure game based on one of Agatha Christie's most celebrated novels of the same name (also known as Ten Little Indians). The plot of the novel revolves around 10 strangers who have been invited to a special party at a mansion on a remote island. The host of the party never shows up, but instead leaves a recording telling them all that they're all going to die, one by one, because at some point in their lives, they were each involved in a murder.
WindowsGamingExcellence (Feb 14, 2006)
There are many things this game does right to stir up the coals of the adventure game genre again. The story, voice acting, music and general ambiance give the game a very good feel. There is a sense of tension and mystery oozes out of every crack but there is a sense of humor to be found, a signature of any good adventure game. Unfortunately adventure games made in the mid 90’s with full motion video look better than this game and it's 3D marionettes. There is also a lack of “flow” to the game play. Being trapped inside the house is about as fun as it sounds too
WindowsNetjak (Nov 22, 2005)
Overall, And Then There Were None has a lot of potential. Its story is masterful, woven by an absolute master of the genre. However, the graphical flaws and awkward missteps keep this from being a truly great game. According to a press release, The Adventure Company has the rights to four more (yet unnamed) Agatha Christie novels. I’m personally hoping for The Mousetrap, my all-time favorite Christie novel. Hopefully, the good folks down at the Adventure Company can learn from what didn’t work with this game and put together a presentation to match quality of the story. If you’re a big Agatha Christie fan or you just really, really love adventure games, this might be a game for you, but aside from those groups, it could really be hit or miss.

From the moment I read the release about And Then There Were None, I had been eagerly waiting for its release. This was an adventure game, (a genre I truly love on the PC) based on a book and movie which I really enjoyed while I was growing up. I even re-read the book in anticipation of the game’s release. So you can imagine my disappointment when the final game loaded up onto my computer and turned into a merely average point and click adventure game.

Efekt gwarantowany.

Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None is vooral succesvol als een sfeerspel.
WindowsGameSpot (Jan 31, 2006)
Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None is peerless within the literary genre of mystery novels in terms of popularity. Its high-contrast blend of early-20th-century upper-crust British civility with a series of brutal and seemingly unsolvable murders all but define the tone and setting of a proper murder mystery. Expectations, then, may be unreasonably high for an adventure game based on this modern classic, and indeed, those looking for a completely faithful adaptation will be at least a little disappointed, and maybe slightly offended by certain liberties taken. On its own terms, though, The Adventure Company's interpretation of And Then There Were None can be enjoyed as a competent adventure genre exercise with some good atmosphere.

Between the identical content and missteps in the Wii-specific actions, there is no reason for anyone who's played the original to look twice at this Wii iteration. Kudos are due for at least trying to offer more than a straightforward point-and-click conversion, but it's unfortunate that the attempt was so poorly implemented, compounded by the failure to ensure the core game itself was up to the challenge. If you haven't played either version and the game appeals to you, I recommend the older PC version. Unless you're really intent on squeezing some point-and-click adventuring goodness out of your console, there's simply no benefit to spending more for a lesser experience.

There is something inherently creepy about many children's nursery rhymes. "Oranges and Lemons", for instance, concludes with a rather ominous couplet, while "Three Blind Mice" certainly didn't end well for its eponymous little heroes. Capitalising upon this, Agatha Christie made many allusions to nursery rhymes in her work, perhaps never more successfully than with the "Ten Little Indians" rhyme in her best-selling mystery, And Then There Were None. Since the novel's first publication in 1939, the text has been adapted numerous times for both stage and screen. Now one of the most ambitious adaptations to date has been released, as AWE Productions has recreated And Then There Were None as a fully interactive PC adventure.

WindowsGame Chronicles (Dec 14, 2005)
I found the game quite disappointing when I could not solve the mystery but rather hear the murderer tell the tale at the end about why they did it and some of how. I was hoping you could maybe guess at who did it and stop further murders or something along a different line. The only action that amounts to anything is at the very end of the game that finds you stopping the last couple of murders by whatever action you decide on. Your actions only dictate who at the end is saved or not, not much of a mystery solved though.
WiiWorth Playing (Apr 13, 2008)
While Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None for the Wii tells a very good story and features some decent audio work, the game stands out as a poorly made port of a mediocre three-year-old game. Flawed level design, hasty production values, glitchy gameplay, and an overall lack of effort drag down this game beyond the point where it's worth your time. If you want to know the story, just read the book or play the PC version. Not even the solid 15 to 20 hours of adventure time make it worth a rental.

And Then There Were None will appeal to anybody who is an Agatha Christie fan but will have limited interest to others. It is very much ‘the game of the book’ and as such has to be played as events in the book dictate. What it does, it does reasonably well, but the 2D screen format and linear game play means it isn’t going to have mass appeal.
WindowsGamekult (Dec 21, 2005)
WindowsGameSpy (Dec 22, 2005)
The bottom line, then, is that And Then There Were None comes off as a noble failure but an interesting experiment. It's not without its merits and the developers clearly have the right idea about how to adapt Agatha Christie's novels to a video game environment. I certainly hope they continue to do so, learning from the missteps of this game. Considered as a stand-alone product, however, And Then There Were None should only be considered by the hardest of hard-core adventure game fanatics.

The thing is, despite finding enough fault in the game to spend the last two paragraphs criticising it for just about every facet, I kept loading it up. Why? Well, which ever way you cut it, the plot is still Agatha Christie at her finest, and so for those that haven't read the book and like a good story, the game is quite bearable, if just for the plot elements. Of course, being Agatha Christie at her finest, I suspect that the book is much more than just 'bearable' (and cheaper), and so I don't think that it's unfair to say that there's more enjoyment in reading the book than playing the story out on a PC.
WiiIGN (Feb 29, 2008)
Be careful what you wish for, I guess. As soon as I had finished Zack & Wiki, I really wanted more publishers to bring back some more point- and-click adventures for Nintendo's system. That's exactly what The Adventure Company has done with Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None. The problem, though, is that the publisher hasn't done anything with its now-old game and thus the experience Wii owners receive is exactly the one PC players found three years ago – except now you've got a Wii remote. Both the presentation and the gameplay mechanics are dated by today's standards, and yet if you grew up with games of this type, you may find yourself more forgiving of the title's shortcomings than new-generation players will be.

Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None will almost certainly please Wii-owners that love point-and-click adventure games… and it will bore everybody else to tears. Read the book instead, as it is far, far more entertaining – read the original to gasp audibly at the racist title.

Unfortunately almost only counts in horse-shoes and hand grenades. While the game is a budget title that still doesn’t excuse its myriad flaws and failings. There is essentially no reason to buy this version when you can get the PC version for a lower price still and better yet, spare yourself the tacked on infuriating motion controls. That is if you even feel the need to play through a game version of the novel instead of simply reading it as it was meant to be, in a book.
WiiOfficial Nintendo Magazine (Feb 07, 2008)
This is by no means a disastrous game. When the puzzles aren't chew-your-own-leg-off frustrating there are some satisfying moments when things just click. But lots of unnecessary legwork and awful load times make exploration more of a chore. For suspense, go and read the novel, but patient puzzlers might get some fun out of this.

With several possible endings and a few optional side puzzles there's some replay potential here. Personally, I won't be revisiting the awfully named Shipwreck Island (next-door to Skull Island and Pirate Island no doubt) though. There's just not enough imagination, invention, and engagement with the source material to entice me back. If you think the game plot sounds interesting then you're really far better off reading the book or getting hold of the superb 1945 movie.
WiiGame Couch (Apr 28, 2010)
As an adaptation, And Then There Were None strikes a balance between preserving the integrity of the original story and muddling it enough to keep Christie fans on their toes. The classic characters are all here, while new elements like eve of war intrigue and the house’s history keep things fresh. Unfortunately this attention to narrative can’t overcome poor puzzle design, primitive graphics and frustrating controls, resulting in a subpar adventure.
WindowsAdventure Classic Gaming (Jul 16, 2008)
In short, Awe Productions has tried to walk a middle road between staying true to the novel and being bold with the storyline, but it is doubtful that this unimaginative adaptation will please most gamers.
WiiGamekult (Feb 26, 2008)
All in all, just as videogames don’t always make good movies, books don’t always translate into good videogames. Agatha Christie: And Then Were None contains a legitimately engaging murder mystery that’s bogged down tremendously by outdated, lackluster gameplay. The only extras that were added to the Wii version of this crusty PC title are poorly-implemented Wii controls that work about 50% of the time, if not less. When all is said and done, progressing through this game boils down to wasting hours scouring the island for the other houseguests over and over again just so you can engage them in more bickering and move onto the next chapter.
WindowsGotNext (Jan 23, 2006)
In light of titles like Indigo Prophecy and Dreamfall, the bargain-bin sensibilities of And Then There Were None really seem unacceptable. Devoted Christie fans will likely enjoy much of the game, but even they will find some of the revisionism in poor taste. Adventure diehards, too, will be disappointed by the lack of solid puzzles, and general ease. Although it seems to have the best of intentions, And Then There Were None is less than successful in its efforts to bring the appeal of Christie’s work across media.
WiiGame Revolution (Apr 10, 2008)
I’m not sure if AWE Games understands the point of adventure games. Players want to go somewhere, live through danger, and feel a sense of accomplishment for overcoming the obstacles. Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None has none of that. Most of the time, you’re just waiting for someone else to die.
WindowsPC Zone (Feb 09, 2006)
Well, there's nothing wrong with the premise I suppose. Take one of the most celebrated murder-mystery novels of all time, add an extra character (the player), then play out the intricate twists and turns according to Mrs Christie's superb criminal logic. Just for extra spice, in case you've actually read the book/seen the film, multiple endings have been added to keep you on your toes. The only problem is that as a game, it's ridiculously unwieldy and clunky, both in interface and interaction terms.
