Description
Age of Sail II is the sequel to
Age of Sail. As its predecessor the game is set between 1775 and 1820 and focuses on tactical naval combat. The player can either tackle one of the about 100 historic sea battles or one of the six campaigns, mostly about the Napoleonic Wars and the Revolutionary War.
During the battles the player indirectly commands his ships. Tactical decisions range from ship positioning, used ammo and the crew disposition, e.g. some are assigned to repairing the ship and other are assigned to the cannons. The player also can assign ships to groups with different orders.
While the game is basically in real-time the player can pause it anytime to give new orders or speed it up.
In comparison to
Age of Sail this installment features a 3D engine with a rotatable camera, coastal features and variable weather. There are overall 1200 ships from 11 nations.
