Developer Spicy Horse ran a Kickstarter campaign to crowdsource the game. However, in comparison to most other Kickstarter projects, the game was already finished - in fact, it was released two days before the Kickstarter successfully ended. The funding goal was to expand the game after release with crafting, co-op multiplayer, improved customer support and several smaller improvements. Additional goals were ports for mobile systems and Linux.
