This game is brill! A combination of Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Shinobi (both really good Sega carts) doesn't exactly bode well for a chop-socky action game, but Shinobi World works really well. The game itself has almost all the features of Shinobi (the guys with the guns, the fat sword-throwers and the Spiderman-type ninjas are all in there), and all the cuteness of Miracle World. Graphics are bright, colourful and clear, and the sound is almost the same as the original Shinobi. I say almost, because it has that softer edge to it that you'd expect from a game of this type. Playability rates really high as well, as the game is just right at the gressively more difficult as you go along, but not so tricky as to drive you away. A great game all round – if you like Alex Kidd, you'll love this.

Alex Kidd has put his fans through hell and back, but those who kept the faith are in for a pleasant surprise.
SEGA Master (Sep 30, 2006)

The scrolling is smooth and, as you don't get too many of the dark ninja's minions attacking you at once, the sprites are well animated. Shinobi is not merely a hack and slay affair, but a puzzling game too. Fans of the Kidd will love it.

Overall, Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is a solid game and one of the better games in the Sega Master System library, but it’s just not “blow you away” good. It’s just a bit too easy and is over too quickly, but for me it was a fun diversion and a good addition to my library, albeit an expensive one. I’d recommend this game for platform game fans, but you may want to hesitate unless you’re a collector due to the high price tags this now commands. That being said, if you can find it for a good price then grab it, as it should offer you a good few hours of good quality gameplay.
SEGA Master SystemRetrogaming History (May 10, 2008)

WiiNintendo Life (Dec 13, 2009)
All in all, this is not a great game, but it would be a mistake to discount it completely. The most disappointing thing about Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is that there's little in the way of ambition; everything it sets out to do, it does well, more or less, and the general impression is that if the designers had just pushed themselves a little harder, and reached a little higher, this could have been one of the more memorable titles of the 8-bit generation. As it is, the game is not an embarrassing farewell for Alex Kidd, but neither is it the blaze of glory Sega's long lost mascot deserved.
SEGA Master SystemGame Freaks 365 (Jul 08, 2005)
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World is certainly a step way above the second and third titles in the series, but it does disappoint in some ways, the most important of which is the idea it was created around. It's easily the second best game of the four, but it's second for a reason, it just can't compete with Miracle World in terms of depth and playability, but most certainly in terms of creativity, and that's where this game really fails.
