DescriptionAmerican Civil War: Gettysburg is a classical turn-based strategy game set during the American Civil War. Despite its name the 16 historical missions don't focus on Gettysburg alone but cover the whole war. The goal is always to kill every enemy in a limited number of turns.
In every round the player gives orders to his troops, e.g. moving or attacking. After the opponent has done the orders get performed. When two units meet each other the combat results get calculated automatically. The game takes terrain information, morale, formations, cover and the unit's viewing direction into account. Generals have abilities they can use to help or hinder near units, e.g. more damage or decreasing the morale. Besides the campaign there is also a skirmish mode. The game also features an encyclopedia about the Civil War.
