According to Simon Phipps, Jeremy Heath-Smith liked the stick in Rick Dangerous so much, he asked the Core Design team to devise a new game featuring a stick. The end result was Bubba 'n' Stix.

Amiga version

Amiga version of the game was released in two formats: on floppy disks and CD (for Amiga CD32). There are some differences between them:
  • The CD version contains an animated, full talking introduction that tells the story of the game. Floppy version does not have any introduction making the player a bit unaware of the events in the world the game takes place
  • The CD version contains audio tracks that are played during each level of the game. These tracks are completely different tunes from those that are in the floppy version of the game. The style of the CD music creates a very cosmic and space-like atmosphere while floppy version rather loose and joyful.
  • The CD version of the game gives the possibility to have music and sound effects in the same time during the gameplay while floppy version leaves the player with a choice of having either one of them at the same time.
  • Unsurprisingly, like most of Core Design games, "Bubba 'N' Stix" also supports the second button that makes the control of the character more convenient and this feature is not only specific for CD32 version.
