Highway Patrol II

A sports car skids around to a halt in the title sequence, before roaring off again to a strangely sedate, pleasant tune. In the game itself, horizon graphics are rather boring-looking but the perspective is good, moving with reasonable speed and smoothness. Other cars are very well-defined but move jerkily. Bar the amusing siren, the few sound effects are unoriginal. Probably the best game of its genre.

It does provide some fun, though I find the overcomplicated map system a little off putting at times. Worth a blast, but with smoother scrolling and perhaps an in-game map it would be worth buying.

It looks fine but most of the time it is just a case of steering left-right, which becomes very boring after a while. Far too little to do to keep you very interested.

"Highway Patrol 2" hätte ein ganz nettes Spiel werden können, wäre da nicht die Steuerung des Wagens. Der Flitzer fährt sich wie auf Schmierseife und die Grafik ist viel zu langsam. Das hält auf Dauer der härteste Highway-Cop nicht aus.

Highway Patrol II is possibly the only in-car driving game, where you have to chase a gangster around a barren featureless desert, available for the Amiga for under three pounds, and if the quality of this one is anything to go by, let's hope also the last
