Description

Zak McKracken is a tabloid reporter (and not a very good one at that). Based upon a psychadelic dream, Zak one day realizes that something is wrong -- Space Aliens are dumbifying the general public through the telephone system. Zak must stop this, but he can't do it alone. After finding a magic crystal (or some sort of crystal), Zak manages to get the help of Anthropologist, Annie, and her friends, Melissa and Leslie. Between the four characters (all of which you control), you can destroy the dumbifying devices and save the earth. Not too bad for a tabloid reporter.

Trivia

The SCUMM interface introduced in Maniac Mansion was also used in this game. This point and click interface in which you formed sentences with objects in your environment was revolutionnary as most other adventure games required user input on the keyboard.

The introduction theme is probably the best tone-based music I've ever heard on the PC speaker. It probably took a while for its creators to arrange it, so I understand why they didn't put much more music in this game. (Editor's note: The Tandy music is even better, as it's in 3 voices.)
