DescriptionHexxagon is a board game, based on the Ataxx concept and similar to its DOS adaptation Hexxagon. This two-player game takes place on a board made up of hexagons. Each turn, a player can move one of his pawns two spaces away, or clone one of his pawns onto an adjacent free space. If a pawn is put down on a space adjacent to the opponent's pawns, they are turned into the player's own pawns. The goal is to have the majority of pawns once the board is filled up. Apart from a classic human-vs-human mode, the game offers three modes of human-vs-computer play, with nine difficulty levels available.
In the "puzzle" mode, the player makes his way through a series of levels in sequence, each with a different board shape and background picture. The levels are divided into chapters, each of which has the player controlling pawns of a different color. Winning a level gives the player some stars, depending on the difficulty.
In "rating" mode the player competes with the computer on a chosen board (unlocked by completing levels in puzzle mode). The game then calculates the player's Elo rating, depending on his performance.
In "zen" mode the player can play a game on any board unlocked in puzzle mode, and is able to choose the side he'll be controlling. Winning a game gives the player points depending on difficulty.
The game contains an achievement system. Getting an achievement grants the player a couple of Discs which come in handy in "rating" mode, as they allow the player to undo a number of moves without a scoring penalty.
