Animaniacs is an okay game that can be lots of fun, but if you get frustrated easily, this is not a game you should pick up.

Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt on kiva ja hilpeä peli, ajatuksella ja sydämellä tehty.

An acceptable game that is worthy of its low price. I highly recommend this to younger gamers and anyone who was a fan of the show! Experienced gamers may be turned off by its simplicity but that shouldn’t stop them from enjoying an overall fun game!

It's been about seven years since the Animaniacs animated series was canceled, and at least a few years since it disappeared even from syndication. But that hasn't stopped Warthog and Ignition Entertainment from bringing out a new platform game based on the smart-alecky Warner brothers (and sister). Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt is very kid-friendly, with only mild cartoon violence, so it makes you wonder who exactly the game is aimed at. Those of us who grew up enjoying the antics of the Animaniacs are all in college or older, while the adolescent age group this game seems to cater to probably wouldn't recognize the characters at all. Despite that conundrum, The Great Edgar Hunt is a good, if not very original, platformer in its own right, offering up some funny writing and interesting environments to explore.

While Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt might not be the best-looking game on today's market, the thought behind it is certainly well appreciated. Playing with Yakko, Wakko, Dot, Pinky and The Brain will bring back happy memories to older gamers and will certainly amuse younger gamers with its humor and cartoon feel.

While Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt isn’t going to really appeal to children over twelve, I know for a fact that kids under that age are going to love it. The Pinky and the Brain mini games are hilarious and break up the action, and while the story is almost none existent there is an overall goal to find all the Edgars and really that’s all a small mind needs to be burdened with. Another added bonus is that this game is released at a budget price! Despite the flaws that would certainly annoy the Brain, all the Pinkies amongst us will find this title to be an enjoyable slice of cartoon fun.

Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt is by no means the best platform game on the system, but it does all the right things to make it the best Animaniacs game to date. Combine that with a MSRP of $19.99, and it's a good purchase for children or nostalgic adults.

Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt is a decent enough game, but not what it could have been. The Warner Bros. (and Sister) are a hoot and a great premise for a console game, but the idea wasn’t developed enough. The Pinky and the Brain mini-games are right on target in utilizing the humor of the show, but the platform action isn’t very exciting. There’s not enough variety in collectibles, and the lack of information about what to do next bogs down the gameplay. The levels are fairly well designed, but not fun enough to keep revisiting again and again after all the collectibles have been gathered. Parents may want to think about this game before purchasing, as they will probably have to help the younger kids play.

Even with these problems, the game still manages to be an above-average platformer, and a credit to its source material. It's not the best platformer of last year, nor does it break any new ground. Still, there's something here for just about everyone. For fans of the show it's a wonderful new piece of new Animaniacs content. For everyone who isn't lucky enough to have seen the show, it's a solid piece of gameplay along with an opportunity to connect with some really wonderful comic characters.

Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt is a decent game if you are between the ages of five and ten and enjoy the cartoon series. Older gamers will find it to be far too simplistic and often frustrating since it can be difficult to know what to do or where to go next. The use of the Animaniacs license is refreshing, especially after so many years, but the game needed some more fine-tuning before being released, especially on the camera and integrating a help system. I would recommend this game for young players who are fans of the television show; however there are better children’s games out there that provide more entertainment for your dollar.

It's hard for me to see a good game ever being made out of a cartoon like Animaniacs. In that light, I give Ignition Entertainment marks for effort, if nothing else. But even if you're working with a franchise that's difficult to translate into a control pad and gigadisc, there isn't any excuse to saddle it with shoddy, uninspired trappings.

GameCubeGaming Nexus
After a throw-away attempt on the DS, Warthog has constructed a passable platformer with the Animaniacs franchise. You won't find anything fresh or spectacular, but the gameplay is competent and the show has (finally) been recreated with some decent accuracy.

This could potentially have been so much better, but for reasons unknown the potential was thrown out of the window, leaving a game that I could not seriously even recommend to younger children. A wasted opportunity...

When the game manages to find its groove, it’s absolutely hilarious and incredibly fun. But between those moments of inspired lunacy and brilliance are vast half-hours of monotony. The great moments in the game seem to underline more that there was so much more potential left untapped. There are a couple of Animaniacs die-hards, like myself, that will glean some joy out of this game. But for the vast majority, it’s one step towards a great licensed game, which only serves to highlight where it falls deficient.
