Trivia

John Romero was apparently paid $250 for this game by Keypunch Software -- "not bad for 2 weeks of coding fun while on vacation" -- three years after writing it over Christmas vacation 1984.

Despite extensive internal references and splash screens referring to the game as Subnodule, Keypunch's marketing whizzes decided the title would sell better under the name "Sub Hunt" and went ahead with that name on the box... without changing anything else!
