Artillery Brigade is a fixed-position shooter where the player can't move but can rotate in any direction. The player's mission is to prevent the enemy units to reach his position. To be able to do this, up to three weapons can be used at a time, one of each category: machine guns (highest fire rate, effective against infantry but weak against armored trucks and tanks), anti-air weapons (medium fire rate, very effective against planes as they explode in mid-air even if they miss their target) and rocket launchers (low fire rate, effective against any ground unit). The enemies range from lowly soldiers to powerful armored tanks and flying bombers.

The game is divided into two campaigns, one taking place in Europe, the other in Africa, during the second World War. Each mission can be awarded a maximum of five stars that can be used to unlock more powerful weapons. After a mission is finished with at least one star, it will become available in the survival mode.

The mission "Fire in the sky" is so hard that the developers had to publish a movie to convince the players that the mission can be finished.
