It would be easy to dismiss this game as an expansion, but I've never seen an expansion that actually offers players this much more than its predecessor, including the introduction of one of the most promising multiplayer modes to come down the aqueduct in some time.

For those who haven’t played any of the previous games in the series, you might want to play Assassin’s Creed II before you venture into Rome. However, make no mistake about it, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is still one highly enjoyable standalone product – a must for fans of the series and genre alike. Not bad for a game initially touted as a “stop-gap” and “money-spinner”, not bad at all.

One minor quibble is that when running the game through Steam, you’ll be forced to exit the program in order to jump from multiplayer to single-player and vice-versa. It only takes a couple seconds, but it’s annoying. That said, the PC version comes prepackaged with the multiplayer Animus Project updates and The Da Vinci Disappearance single-player campaign. Of course, the biggest selling point for the PC version is the Nvidia 3D Vision and multiscreen support. Clamoring up to the Viewpoints at the top of the Borgia towers becomes a much more breathtaking experience when you’re viewing Rome across three screens.

It's one of many finishing touches to a game that started life as what sounded suspiciously like a fund-raising stopgap conceived on the back of an overdrawn chequebook and blurted out during a conference call. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is anything but that, however – it's one of the best games of 2010.

Brotherhood is the best showcase yet for the series' formidable quality and range, with an excellent campaign and an equally intriguing online approach, and while I hope the next one actually answers some questions, I can't begrudge Ubisoft in the slightest for giving us one more memorable voyage with Ezio.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood isn’t as much a sequel as a completion to the second game, and while this is certainly the best game of the three so far, you probably don’t want to jump into the story without having played at least the second game first. Brotherhood polishes the presentation and fine-tunes the combat and gameplay to create a masterpiece of action and adventure with a rewarding storyline. The whole concept of the animus and reliving memories embedded in DNA creates so much potential. I can’t wait to explore other ancestral memories from the 1600’s all the way to the present. And until that next big adventure arrives, I’ll be perfecting my own assassin skills in some of the best online multiplayer currently available.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is no hastily cobbled together, cynically made sequel. That it feels as new and exciting as Assassin's Creed II did a year ago is testament to how much new stuff Ubisoft Montreal has crammed into the game, making it an outstanding sequel that marks a new high for the series. Multiplayer is an incredible new addition that feels in no way tacked on and actually works remarkably well. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's story meanwhile isn't as compelling as Ezio's journey in ACII, but it's still hugely engaging nonetheless. Rome is also a fantastic and beautifully realised setting, making every moment you spend around its landmarks, aqueducts and densely populated streets an absolute pleasure. It's for these reasons that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is every bit as essential as it's forebear, an outstanding achievement and a magnificent game in its own right. When in Rome, you won't want to leave.

It seemed to be an impossible task for Ubisoft to turn around a year after the release of Assassin’s Creed II and deliver such a polished follow-up to a game that many critics were calling one of 2009’s best titles. Yet, against all odds, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood exists in 2010, and it not only lives up to the hype, but it manages to completely outclass its predecessor. Brotherhood is a game that Assassin’s Creed fans simply cannot afford to miss, and one of best games this year.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is an essential addition to the series’ that unleashes an unbelievable amount of fresh content, sure to tickle the fancy of anyone willing to strap themselves into the Animus for another go at living the life of Rome’s most elusive hero – this is the best Assassin’s Creed to date. Hands-down this is one of the best games of 2010, it’s amazing and shouldn’t be missed by fans of the franchise; it has us excited as to what’s coming next from the Assassin’s Creed team.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is an unmitigated triumph, taking the superlative groundwork laid by its forebear and building upon it. That you're confined to Rome is never an issue, as it's a vast and seamlessly sprawling, cohesive environment. Rebuilding the city and driving out the Borgia is about as compulsive as gaming gets and chances are, you'll sit glued to the game throughout and feverishly complete every Subject 16 puzzle, collect every item and refurbish every shop, aqueduct, faction building and underground tunnel you come across. Achingly beautiful to behold and incredible to play, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will be the best Roman holiday you'll ever have.

There are still so many other small details I could talk about, but they all hammer home the same point: this is a great game. The multiplayer aspects aren't that engaging for me -- there's just not enough to do to balance out the frustration of not being able to defend myself in a fight. However, I love how deep the team has managed to make the single-player portion of the game (again). If you've followed the AC series this far, you'd be remiss to let this one pass you by; even with the criticisms I've listed above, I'm comfortable saying that another Assassin's Creed game will make my list of "favorite games of the year." I can't wait to see what Ubisoft Montreal does next with the series.

Thing is, while this is all well and good, we do have to wonder what took Ubisoft so long to port it over. Four months later, and the buzz surrounding the game has died down, with console owners instead waiting for the next instalment to continue the tale. The free DLC nearly makes up for it, but PC gamers will still feel a little let down. If you've still not got around to giving it a play, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is a masterpiece that deserves your time - and with all the added extras now firmly in place, there has never been a better time for PC gamers to delve into Ezio Auditore's world.

Brotherhood feels more GTA than ever but that is not a bad thing, it just seems that Ubisoft now know what works for the genre and what doesn’t. Brotherhood may not be a full fat game, but Ezio’s story is one of the most interesting ones that has been crafted in gaming and just for that he deserves another visit.

Although you can’t say that it’s an impressive evolution compared to Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood is without a doubt a more polished version of its predecessor, and the introduction of a captivating multiplayer has turned it into the best game of the series yet. And considering how it ends, I can’t wait to see that Assassin’s Creed III will have in store for us.

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is a great game with a fully fledged single player story that spans more than 15 hours and a robust multiplayer. There is actually so much to do in the map sometimes I had a hard time finding symbols because there were so many other things to do. The underground platform puzzles are brought back and if they’re all completed Ezio unlocks some cool armor. Old friends from the second game return like Leonardo da Vinci and Caterina of Forli. Multiplayer provides hours of intense action that I will enjoy for a long time.

Xbox 360GameTrailers
It was initially thought that Assassin's Creed Brotherhood might be a multiplayer-focused game where the campaign was an afterthought, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Just as lengthy and deeper than its predecessors, Ezio's latest adventure holds the line. Many of the gameplay issues have gone unchecked once again, but assassin recruitment, development, and implementation is far more addictive than you might think. The multiplayer component definitely has its moments, but serious players will be turned off by how random it can be. For the series to remain elite it will need to evolve, but for now, its unique premise and core gameplay are more than enough to make this brotherhood one worth joining.

Without the multiplayer addition, Brotherhood probably wouldn’t have scored as high for me. It’s an excellent entrant in the series, but lacks the innovation we’d all like to see, and if you’ve played ACII, by and large, you’ve played this. It’s a minor evolution in terms of tweaked gameplay and a few new gameplay additions, but as a fan of the entire AC concept, I really would rather all the resources be poured into an entirely new chapter, in a new era with a new assassin. And hopefully that’s what we get in a year’s time.

Fans sollten also auf jeden Fall zuschlagen.

Unfortunately, at the end of the day, Brotherhood isn’t quite as good as Assassin’s Creed II, but the standard set by its predecessor was so high that this doesn’t mean it’s not a fantastic game. Even if the story, characters and difficulty leave something to be desired and some of the content is filler, the variety is staggering, the majority of the gameplay is brilliant, and the core gameplay has improved, if only slightly, with the addition of new weapons and the Assassin Recruits. The multiplayer is an interesting take on the main game and actually works very well. A game developed in just a year, to follow on from an extremely successful and well-loved game, runs the risk of being branded a cash-in, but Brotherhood is certainly not. This is not franchise-milking, and nor is it a spin-off. Brotherhood is an Assassin’s Creed game down to the core, and although ACII is a superior game, Brotherhood is an enthralling, enjoyable and varied experience.

Overshadowing even that, Brotherhood’s biggest improvement is that it requires only one-time activation, as opposed to AC2’s “always-online” DRM. The game itself isn’t notably superior (especially in terms of story), but all of its additions put it at least on par with the last, and it’s a hugely entertaining sequel.

Experiencing Ezio's rise from streetwise youth to devious assassin was one of Assassin's Creed II's finest pleasures. In Brotherhood, he gets plenty of chances to flash his disarming smirk, but his character arc isn't nearly as fascinating as it might have been. Nevertheless, this excellent period adventure has a magical allure that draws you in with its sheer beauty. Additionally, few games make it such a pleasure to simply move from place to place, whether you are galloping on horseback, soaring through the sky from rooftop to rooftop, or diving into a bale of hay from hundreds of feet above. Like Ezio himself, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood doesn't exhibit the growth you might have expected, but its charms are almost impossible to resist.

And so we come back to the original question, "Should I buy this game?" The answer is fairly mundane for Assassin's Creed veterans: If you liked the previous games, want to know how the story inches forward, and don't mind spending another 20 some hours doing all the same stuff you've done before, go buy it. I easily fit into that category so while it was easy to see the flaws, I still had a great time playing. If you're still a little burned out on Assassin-y gameplay, this isn't going to reinvigorate your desire to play and you should probably wait for a Steam sale six months from now. Brotherhood is truly "same as it ever was", but none the worse for it.

Almost every aspect of the series has seen enhancements in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, from travel (you can whistle for a horse and ride it almost anywhere) to value (you can now replay any completed memory). There is joy in leaping across the Roman rooftops, taking in the grand sights in front of you and realizing that it is all your own playground. Stealing a combatant's spear from him and impaling him on it is a brutal pleasure. And the little touches--the way Claudia meets Ezio's stare with one of her own, or the fluid animations that characterize your agile maneuvers--are constant reminders of what makes these games so enchanting. This may not be Assassin's Creed III, but like Ezio's smirk, Brotherhood is too irresistible to ignore.

If you’re new to Assassin’s Creed, this is a solid entry, but picking up the threads of the convoluted story may be a challenge. If you’re an experienced assassin, on the other hand, expect to tread pretty similar ground to the last title.

The only thing holding Brotherhood back from greatness is an overriding sense of familiarity. Judged on its own merits, it’s a fantastic adventure crammed with things to see and do. Rome is arguably Ubisoft Montreal’s finest work to date, filled with truly spectacular architecture and blessed with a variety of mission types and challenges that surpasses both of its forbearers. The story may not deliver much in the way of major surprises but the gameplay is first rate from beginning to end. If you can get over the fact that Brotherhood is essentially Assassin’s Creed 2.5, then you’ll be in for one hell of a ride.

If you’re an Assassins Creed fan and have been holding out for the PC version, you won’t leave disappointed. Brotherhood is a great game, but it’s hard to wholeheartedly recommend. This is really a title designed for fans of Assassin’s Creed II, as it’s a continuation of that story, but the reality is that people who finished that game want something new – or that at least represents a clear step forward. Brotherhood doesn’t deliver that. The game doesn’t advance the wider narrative very far, the new mechanics don’t really add a great deal and the mission designs rarely explore new gameplay possibilities. That said, Brotherhood really looks the part, with a step up in the graphics department, and a massive and varied city to explore. It also introduces an innovative multiplayer suite, for which the team(s) should be applauded. If you’re new to Assassin’s Creed, this is a solid entry, but picking up the threads of the convoluted story may be a challenge. If you’re an experienced assassin, on the other hand, expect to tread pretty similar ground to the last title.

The multiplayer is Assassin Creed: Brotherhood’s most inventive aspect, whilst the single player is merely a refinement over the previous game and still possesses almost as many flaws as it does excellence. It’s still a wonderful and uniquely flavoured open world game, but one that, in regards to its single player, still hasn’t quite managed to reach its full potential at this point.

In short, I felt like Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was a rip off. It feels like it was rushed, there are noticeably more bugs (though they are slight). Very little of substance is new or different (apart from the inclusion of multiplayer), all of the same frustrations are there and I mostly felt like playing different games when I was playing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Every time I got on a horse and started free roaming, I wanted to play Red Dead Redemption. Every time I got into a big fight, I wanted to be playing Batman: Arkham Asylum. Every time I was climbing through another boring and drab jumping puzzle, I wished to be playing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. While Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood kind of brings all of these mechanics together, all of these are done better elsewhere. To someone whom has never experienced this series and wants to, I would have to recommend picking up Assassin's Creed 2 instead.

Considering Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood as a total package, it’s just barely worth full price. There’s a decent quantity of content, but the amount that’s recycled from the last game is stunning, a purely cynical ploy to squeeze out more money in lieu of preserving any semblance of artistic integrity.

So there you have it, a fantastic adventure title robbed of its high production values and engaging gameplay by a series of coding errors; each more devious than the last. Naturally these bugs won’t affect everyone, but it’s still indicative of the effort (or lack thereof) that has gone into this port. The removal of annoying DRM schemes (at least ones that I know of) is certainly a step in the right direction, but the rest is unimpressive at best. If you have a 360 or PS3, make sure it is your weapon of choice when it comes to taming the beast that is Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. If you only have a gaming PC, make sure you wait until the game is patched and updated. This current incarnation fails to do the game justice in any way, shape or form.
