Trivia
In early 2000, Activision and General Mills partnered to distribute CD-ROMs containing Asteroids and other games with boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Trix. (Asteroids was the headliner of the disc.) The version of Asteroids contained on the CD-ROM only allowed for two hours of play, but players could unlock the full version by paying over the Internet.

The "Classic Asteroids" game was programmed by LTI, Michael Livesay, Jason Maynard, and Daniel Zahn. Although it's not a bad version of the original coin-op game, it's not arcade perfect. It's actually a separate executable, but it cannot be run directly, only from the main game.

Activision also published this title for the Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Game Boy Color. Crave Entertainment published (but Syrox still developed) it as "Asteroids Hyper 64" for the Nintendo 64 console.
