Astérix: The Gallic War

Asterix is een aardig, simpel, ouderwets spelletje: nuff said.

Well, as always in overall I'll try to find a target for this game... kids, yes this game, both for the comics and for the easy gameplay does not fit any RPG player, and also the really fast learning curve makes you think this game was aimed at kids. Anyway, I'm honestly saying I did like this game, and possibly I will play it a bit more, even now that it had it's review. Doesn't ask for too many brain-cycles, pretty nice to waste some time when you are tired, anyway they had to choose, or you play with mouse, or with pad/keyboard, since having both a joystick and a mouse hanging around is pretty boring. At first you even wonder what u will have to use on each game. Nice try, now make a full 3d arcade starring asterix, you have already the renderer, the 3d models... just make real 3d levels now.

Asterix The Gallic War is new 3D action/strategy game published by Infogrames. The game includes 9 very diverse levels to explore: Carnac, Roman camp, forest, Gallo-Roman village, the Alps, Narboa, pirate ship, and for the very first time, the City of Pirates! Asterix The Gallic War also offers 4 extremely fun mini games: Throw the Romans, Target Practice with the Romans, Crush the Romans and Shatter the Barrel. These mini games are pretty cool.

Asterix är en undermålig kombination av en Risk-klon och ett trött samlar-spel med vissa stridsinslag. Om du stöter på det här spelet, spring åt andra hållet!

Короче, что бы там ни говорили разработчики, Asterix — наглый и неприкрытый приставочный порт. А я-то и не знал, что именно об этом мы все так долго и безнадежно мечтали. Неужели несчастные коллеги по цеху, специализирующиеся на приставках, вынуждены обозревать нечто подобное чуть ли не ежедневно? Не верю! Хотя, если пустить игру через TV-out (если, конечно, на вашей карточке таковой имеется), подключить к компьютеру старый дедушкин геймпад, и вручить все это хозяйство пятилетнему дитяте — восторгам не будет предела. Правда, не лучше ли в таком случае пересесть на что-нибудь попроще и подешевле? Вроде 3DO?..

Asterix: The Gallic War is a poor hybrid of action and strategy. The action sequences have little, if anything, in common with the strategy elements of the game and are very uninspiring. Why not include hand-to-hand battles with Roman characters, or even chariot races for control of a particular piece of land? It would certainly be more consistent with the theme than a 'Bowling for Romans' game. Unless you need to get your hands on everything Asterix, this game has little to offer to either action or strategy fans, let alone fans of the comic book series.
