Parker Brothers had a contest that if you made it to the 16th level of this game, sent in an entry form (or copy), a color photo of your TV screen with the black cobra 16th level on it with your name, address and signature on the back and the proof of purchase from a G. I. Joe: Cobra Strike rule book, they would publish your name in Electronic Games magazine and send you a baseball cap with the Cobra logo on it. The poster advertising this can be viewed here.
