Several versions of Joust refer to the pterodactyl as "unbeatable?" when it appears. The pterodactyl can be beaten, but it is very difficult. You need to hit it exactly on the nose with your lance when it's mouth is closed. In most versions of the game this requires pixel perfect accuracy! The Atari 5200 and Atari 400/800 versions are slightly easier since the pterodactyl doesn't open and close its mouth as rapidly as in other versions. |
