Anyone know anything about this release?

We list it as ported by Sierra but I can't find any sources about that. Also who published it?

And those Taiwanese covers doesn't exactly make things clearer.

It's not impossible, Sierra had its early-stage arcade phase with Jawbreaker, official Frogger conversions, and some cartridge business for early consoles. That said, I can't corroborate any relationship to this particular title.

For what it's worth, the game uses the same options menu style as the PC versions of Frogger II: ThreeeDeep! and Congo Bongo. So whoever ported these two (which isn't clear either) probably did Tapper as well.

Sierra was one of the few companies early on whose games exploited the 16-color composite trick on the PC (to good effect anyway), so the visual style of this game kind of makes them a candidate.

Wikipedia's article for Tapper makes the (naturally, unsourced and dubious) claim that the PC version was done by some guy whose area of expertise is pen and paper RPGs... make of that what you will.

But did Sierra make development work for other publishers? One would think they could self publish.

Year should then be 1984 probably since it's mentioned as a new release in the October issue. I also vote to remove Sierra since at this point it's nothing but speculation.
