The Games Machine (UK)
A competent conversion, which might have had broader appeal if weapon enhancements wasn't wiped out with each death.
Overall, the game is not as bad as it might seem. Although the idea is somewhat dated, Slap Fight will, no doubt, find it's way into many collections. My advice is to play it first.
ACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment)
The shoot-em-up, collectable weapons action is terribly dated now, the graphics are uninspired and the sound is really rather poor. Coming out a month after the substantially better Xenon
, the game doesn't have a great deal to recommend it.
Atari ST User
Slap Fight is nothing new. It takes an old game concept, adds a few nice touches, but ruins it with poor sound, and needless, lengthy repeats. What could and should have been the vertical scroller to beat all vertical scrollers, sadly misses its mark.
Computer and Video Games (CVG)
There are countless screens (I wasn't going to count them anyway) of blasting - all very much the same. There are even some indestructible nasties every twenty section or so. There are plenty of better shoot-em-ups on the ST.
