Computer and Video Games (CVG)
Football Manager II is simply a football fan's dream come true. It's a beautifully structured and presented game and is engrossing, challenging and very, very addictive - it had me burning the midnight oil several nights running!
Atari ST User
It's a shame that the ST's facilities have not been exploited to the full. Apart from an action replay sequence and the rather more detailed graphics, there's nothing to set it apart from 8-bit versions. While it's nicely presented and very enjoyable to play, it could have been so much better.
The Games Machine (UK)
However, it has been a long time since Football Manager and though this is no significantly advance over the original, the sequel is a good game for football fanatics because as it marginally improves on some of Football Managers better points, it will no doubt have the same massive long-term appeal.
Happy Computer
ST Action
I must admit I was looking forward to FM2, having spent many hours playing its predecessor. I was, however, rather disappointed with this latest release. Sure enough, the extra features, enhanced graphics and new controls are all improvements, but hidden behind all the razzamatazz, FM2 is essentially the same game. FM2 is undoubtedly a worthwhile effort but, sadly, still lacks that certain "je ne sais quoi".
ACE (Advanced Computer Entertainment)
Football Manager 2's definitely best left to fans of the genre. The match highlights are badly animated, and it's hard to see how any of the extra frills added to F.M. 2 make it any better than the original game.
