Premium Mah Jongg II

Development

Since the start of development efforts in 1991, both authors mention their time investment for creating both Premium Mah Jongg II and Premium Mah Jongg games as 1000 hours of programming and 200 hours for creating the tile sets.

International version

According to the authors the original game was a success in the German PD-Pool series. But, although the game was licensed as public domain, IDL Software, the distributor of the PD-Pool series, disallowed the transfer of the game in international mail box systems. Besides the language barrier (the first game was in German) this reduced the spreading of the game and was the reason why the second version was not only released in English, but also distributable in all mailbox systems.
