The sound is a passable imitation of a Spectrum burping and the graphics are almost non-existent. Five years ago when it was written (according to the copyright date on the box), this was no doubt the state-of-the-art computer-game. It is undoubtedly every the ultimate Trek game containing every bell and whistle you could wish for, but I would be surprised if anyone other than a certified "Trekie" would think that it was worth considering at this price.
Star Fleet uses a very old game style but it can still be fun to play. Special missions appearing later in the game keep you interested for a while but the repetitive nature of the game soon sees your interest waning. ST Version: The game's the same on the ST but plays much slower - tediously slow at times. You'll find it hard to stay enthusiastic playing Star Fleet 1 on the ST.
