First of all, you can kick the other riders off, and you get rewarded their boost for it. It's definitely not a good thing to get rewarded to do bad. Secondly, the lyrics are something that I get worried about. Some of the lyrics are 'We're the freaks! We're the freaks!' (and it gets repeated throughout the whole song, generously) A song is called 'Bad Religion', which is by Godsmack. 'Become What You Hate' is another song. These are definitely not appropriate for born-again Christians. Do not give up all hope, though. You can turn them all off in the options section. Another inappropriate part of the game are a few of the characters. One of the few players you can get at first is a girl in a very tight and skimpy bikini. Of course the camera caters to that fact. Another character is called 'Devil Girl', and is in a very similar outfit. She also looks like a rendition of 'today's devil.' Another character is a troll, which I found offensive, but I doubt everyone will.

Ok, I'll admit when the original ATV: Quad Power Racing from Acclaim came out, I was still really into ATV Offroad Fury from Sony, so I didn't pay much attention to it. I was also still running Dreamcast HQ at the time so we never really got a chance to review it. But I had continually heard good things about the game, and so I figured next time it came around I would look at it. Well, the next time has come around. Acclaim Sports (AKA) not only decided to bring out a sequel, but to bring it to all three next generation platforms. And so this particular review will cover the Xbox and GameCube versions of ATV: Quad Power Racing 2. They are close enough to be scored the same. The PS2 version is scored a little differently, so it required it's own review.

As racing games go, grab ATV Quad Power Racing 2. It has lots to offer outside the standard Career and Arcade modes and is executed with style and fun, which was enough to make me keep playing.

With the games solid graphics, solid game-play, and great replay value; I give this game the score it deserves, for its tiny kinks and small bugs. It also lacks link play/online play which would allow 2-6 players to play simultaneous like its counter part ATV Off-road 2 and the original ATV. With the games low price of $29.99 I suggest picking it up or at least giving it a rental.

AKA Acclaim has published a multiplatform sequel to ATV Quad Power Racing for the PS One, appropriately named, ATV Quad Power Racing 2. Climax has taken developer rights to produce a fun, extreme title.

The only other thing ATV: Quad Power Racing doesn't have is online play. No Xbox Live, no GameCube modem/broadband. Why? What's going on in the online world that people continue to shy away from it? I thought this was the year? Anyway, that's the only other negative I can put on this game. Otherwise, I would still reccommend it. I think it is as good as ATV Offroad Fury this time around, minus the online play of course. Maybe even a little better. While the graphics are not as good as the other consoles, it's certainly as good as Offroad Fury. And the track designs and easy controls will keep you coming back for more.

ATV Quad Power Racing 2 should please most racing fans out there. If you've played games such as MX2002 then this is pretty much in the same vein with it's combination of freestyle tricks and cut and thrust racing. Some will relish the opportunity to give your opponents a kick during a race but as fun as this can be, the races are hectic enough in their own right if you don't wish to take the violent option.

Definitely rent it, but if you're in a buying mood and in the market for a racer, I wouldn't try to convince you otherwise.

Don't you hate when someone makes a sequel to a really bad game? You do? Then it's time to quit hating. Climax's latest is light years better than its ugly-as-sin predecessor and is already worthy to compete against Sony's Offroad Fury series. The visuals have taken a gigantic step forward, the tracks are more intelligently designed (but still have stupid obstacles that require rote memorization to avoid), and the controls have gotten the reworking they desperately needed. If you can live without that other game's online support, then this is golden.

While ATV 2 Quad Power Racing has some graphical issues and a limited selection when it comes to sound, the fun, excitement and enjoyment you can get out of the title makes up for it’s shortcomings. This reminds me of the title Test Drive Off Road Wide Open from Infogrames, as it offers hours of fun, and what else do we play games for? The fun factor is there! Not to mention, there is currently no other option when it comes to quad racing for the Xbox, and I don’t mean that as a slam, hopefully Acclaim will continue to improve on this series with each release, I’ll be looking for ATV 3.

ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 is a fun game and while it does share the same flaws and deficiencies as the PS2 version it partially makes up for them with some nice subtle improvements in quality and features, and to be perfectly honest, lack of competition. Given enough time you can learn to work with (or around) the flaky stunt controls and the unintuitive preload system, and you will find yourself totally addicted to an intense racing and fun freestyle experience. If there were another ATV Xbox game competing for your dollar then you might have to think a bit more seriously, but for now, this is a great off-road racing game, and not just because it’s the only one in town.

GameCubeNintendoWorldReport
At the end of the day, ATV Quad Power Racing 2 is hardly a perfect game, but since there isn’t much competition for it on the GameCube, people who like more arcade-style racing will definitely want to give it a look. Particularly so if you can live with the sloppy stunt controls, the game provides a balanced and generally enjoyable experience. Given another shot, hopefully Climax Studios can run with the positive gameplay they’ve designed and capitalize on that potential with tighter control and more impressive graphics.

The sad thing is that that's one of the more tame challenges. Overall, seeing as this is the only ATV game for the XBOX, fans of the genre should at least rent it. You'll probably want to rent it before you buy it, unless you're just hardcore for ATV games. Casual gamers might be attracted to it for no reason, but everyone else probably won't give a damn about it.

Ever since Tony Hawk, extreme-sports games have been a dime a dozen. Some have been great, some have been terrible, and ATV QPR2 falls somewhere in the middle of that. At first glance, it’s very shallow, only decent looking, very arcadey and slapsticky, but deep down, it becomes somewhat fun and very challenging. But after a while, it becomes more of a chore to unlock things, and the overall mediocrity won’t do anything special for you, and it’s decent for what it is. Get ready for a ton of frustration! It’s the only ATV game on the XBOX, but like I said, it’s decent.

This game features quality graphics and solid game play. There are other racing games that have slightly better looks, or better action/racing adventure, but ATV Quad Power Racing 2 is well done. It just is not the kind of game that will blow racing fans away.

Not the greatest looking game ever, at least the environments will keep you interested and there is always something new around every turn. The framerate is smooth for most of the game and the draw distance lets you see far down the track; it's especially noticeable when you reach open areas. The vehicles look great and display some nice reflective lighting effects. The riders are crude looking and suffer from marionette-motion syndrome. The tunes are hard rocking but at only seven tracks you're going to grow very tired of them.

The Gamecube has finally garnered an ATV racing game with the release of ATV Quad Power Racing 2 from Acclaim. Gamers can now indulge their xtreme racing fantasies with plenty of tricks, tracks and trade-ups.

ATV: QPR2 should keep ATV fans content. Other gamers looking for an extreme sports racing game packed with extra features and loads of tracks should probably look elsewhere.

PlayStation 2Game Chronicles
The funny thing about ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 is that I had this game on my radar for almost all of last year. It was supposed to release in the summer and kept getting pushed and pushed, and just when I had given up it suddenly tried to slip in alongside Sony’s 4x4 racer. I could make a fancy checklist breaking down all the pro’s and con’s of this game and its competition, but the plain and simple truth is that while QPR2 is a fun game, there is another game out there that does everything this game does, does it better, and does more of it. QPR2 is just too little too late.

I admit that this game could use some improvements. Still, you should give it a good rental and see if it’s something that brings you back. As I said earlier, it has the Sega-esque quality of being able to take it off the shelf a few months down the road and still have fun with it.

PlayStation 2Gaming Target
It’s almost become a rule that an extreme sports game supports a solid, rock or punk-style soundtrack. ATV2 followed in the many footsteps taken before it and provides a nice musical collection of primarily rock songs. For the most part the music compliments the levels and racing, but you start to recognize how many songs there really are, or rather the absence of considering there’s only seven licensed tracks. As far as sound effects go, ATV2 furnishes exactly what you might expect, nothing more and nothing less. Once again, the game borders average without offering something to truly boast about.

ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 is to ATV Offroad Fury 2, as peas and carrots are to filet of Wild Virginia Bass with melted Savoy cabbage and Spanish caper emulsion. They're both foods that will feed and nourish you, but one is obviously more refined and sophisticated, offering up a more diverse palette of flavors and textures.

GameCubeThe Next Level
ATV Quad Power Racing 2 conforms to the genre template, without ever taking a chance or trying to do something different. That said, what it does do, it does well. It’s a fun, attractive racing title with impressively designed courses. Those looking for a bit of arcade racing action will definitely find ATV appealing. It’s just unfortunate that it conforms so closely to the norm and, thus, inevitable mediocrity.

XboxIGN
The nice thing about making a 4x4 game for Xbox, is that there's not much competition. Different from a car racing game (of which Xbox has some quality titles), a 4x4 game has a unique feel and different set of standards. So, with Acclaim bringing ATV Quad Power Racing 2 to Xbox, it has little to stand in its way of dominating the genre. Unfortunately, while a reasonably solid game, ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 fails to do anything but bury itself in a grave of pure mediocrity.

While Rainbow Studios' ATV Off-Road Fury series has enjoyed a fair amount of success on the PlayStation 2, until now the GameCube has been without a quad racing game of any quality. Acclaim fills this gap with ATV Quad Power Racing 2, the follow-up to its PlayStation quad racing game. What developer Climax has produced here is a simple, accessible racing game with modest goals that it, for the most part, accomplishes.

The difficulty in making a 4x4 off-road game is that the competition, while not numerous, is of such high quality. The current reigning king of 4x4 racing is unquestionably ATV Offroad Fury 2 on the PS2, which both looks and plays great. To make their new off-road game, ATV: Quad Power Racing 2, even worth a second look, Acclaim has to pull every card out of its sleeves and make a game that either one-ups the competition, or provides enough innovation to differentiate itself from other 4x4 games. Unfortunately, while a reasonably solid game, ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 fails to do anything but bury itself in a grave of pure mediocrity.

This game is the best ATV game out right now, but still a mediocre title in general. It offers some unique additions to plain jane racing, but seems to have been shoved off the line a few weeks too early. The control and boost/trick systems scream for some tweaking. If you like ATV racing games, this is certainly worth picking up, if you don’t care for ATVs any more than cars, stick to car games.

Nonetheless, we were strangely compelled into extensively playing ATV2 - whether or not the same is true of you, you'll know within your first minutes of play. Everything on offer clocks in at 'above average' or better, with some flashy visuals and a great physics engine. But while there are hints of originality littered around, the whole package does feel rather generic.

GameCubeGameSpy
In the end, ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 is not the best of its kind. That honor goes to Sony's ATV: Offroad Fury 2. But featuring quality gameplay, smoother graphics than the PS2 version of QPR2, and smoother controls than the Xbox version, the GameCube version of this title is surely number one.
60
XboxGameSpy
In the end, despite the few extra features mentioned at the start of this review, unresponsive controls prevent the Xbox version of QPR2 from outdoing its console brethren. The lack of an online element serves to further accentuate the inferiority of this title in relation to Sony's ATV: Offroad Fury 2. Still, with so few quality 4x4 games on the market, QPR2 may be worth checking out.

PlayStation 2The Next Level
In the end, Quad Power 2 is an admirable effort by Acclaim, but the fact that it just doesn't stand out in any fashion really puts a damper on most of the good things it has going, and the fact that most of those things have already been done better in many other games, makes this a hard game to sell.If you're a big racing fan or a big ATV fan and have already had your fill of ATV Offroad 1 and 2, then Quad Power 2 may be worth a look on the cheap, but it's probably best as a rental.
