All in all Backpacker isn't a complex game, but there are a variety of problems to solve and it doesn't take long to get into the swing of things. Really, it's a game that all the family can join in and enjoy. Young players will certainly have some fun with the arcade bits and they'll likely need to come to the rescue of Mum and Dad on these occasions.

Backpacker is a game that shows some promise, but needs a lot more work before it is worth your time. Skip this one. Bottom Line: Dated graphics, inane arcade sequences, lots of untimely deaths, poor voice acting, a less than interesting plot and bugs, bugs, bugs keep this one from becoming a winner. The frustration level of this game is not worth the effort.

The game features a relatively fresh premise, but the hackneyed story just is not enough to make up for the aggravation of keeping Chuck alive. The infrequent plot twists manage to be either entirely predictable or bafflingly irrelevant, the endgame is arbitrary and dissatisfying, and the tiresomely long final cut scene feels tacked on.
