In generally, it was actually impressive for what would normally just be blown off as some kid's game. It was fun and immersive and amusing, and well worth the time.

This game offers a lot of wholesome fraternity silliness. Slapstick humor mixed up with hip, crazy characters makes for some relaxed playtime with no pressure to beat the clock or otherwise kill yourself with insanely difficult quests. Once in a while, it’s good to let yourself play something for the sake of having fun without a hitch. The pricing is very reasonable considering how many games within games this title offers. Just be an animal and let yourself go for a while. Just don’t do when humans are watching. That’s the only rule in the Barnyard!

Fans van de film zullen ongetwijfeld in hun nopjes zijn met dit computergame van Barnyard. Het open einde is een verademing, veel van de minigames zijn echt wel geestig en het aparte gevoel van humor uit de film blijft overeind.

Overall, Barnyard will provide an entertaining experience for younger gamers and fans of the movie. As long as you don’t mind your kids chasing around chicks with their milk cannons, this game might keep them occupied for a while.

In any event, fans of the movie will likely be pleased with how the video game rendition of Barnyard turned out. Its open-ended design is a breath of fresh air and many of the minigames are genuinely fun. Also, the overall presentation lives up to the movie's anthropomorphic sense of humor.

There could have been a lot more in the Barnyard to keep my entertained, sometimes I get tired of helping people - mud wrestling would have been fun, or some type of multiplayer mode, where my friends could accompany me on a bike ride! Still, the open ended gameplay, the mini games and a mobile phone to call my own all contribute to a good time, especially if you've seen me in the film beforehand. Come join me at the Barnyard and share some of this apple pie Pig made. It's disgusting!

It's no modern-day classic, but Barnyard is still a good choice for young gamers, with a nice unhurried design somewhat reminiscent of Animal Crossing. Of course, it's not as ambitious, and there isn't as much to do, but there's a reasonable 10 to 15 hours of gameplay nonetheless. Anatomically incorrectness notwithstanding, Barnyard is a perfectly fine family-friendly film tie-in that you won't absolutely love, but has plenty to like anyway.

Speaking generally, Barnyard is little more than a series of mini-games with the barest hint of plot to tie it all together. That said, and after adjusting my expectations to an appropriately miniscule level, I must say that Barnyard actually surprised me. It’s a better game than I thought, given that it’s a licensed property developed solely to cash in on yet another lousy kiddie flick (much less one put out by Nickelodeon, the home of LazyTown). It still has its flaws (to say the least), but there are enough (relatively speaking) enjoyable missions and games to keep you coming back for a time or two.

If the question is whether or not Barnyard fills the void as a post-movie crowd-pleaser for PC, we can honestly say it fulfills its purpose. With a ton of mini-games (half of which are available out of the box. Nice), a huge free-roaming environment, tons of mini-quests and open-ended gameplay, Barnyard manages to pull off its design quite nicely. Having said that, the game still suffers from the normal symptoms of licensed products, lacking a little polish here, and a gameplay tweak there.

Amusant.

Despite the numerous activities offered, Barnyard runs into some problems. The item equipping system takes a lot of time to maneuver through, a frustrating task when gamers want to set up the right item. Some of the activities become monotonous, such as the mundane collecting missions and mixing together components to offer "mocktails" or recipes to other farm animals for cash. Finally, the game's content won't be for everyone, as Barnyard was clearly built for a younger audience and average players can complete the game in a few short hours. Regardless of its shortcomings, Barnyard's mini-games and activities on the farm make it worth at least a rental.

Barnyard will keep the kids busy for hours which should be enough to make any parent pick up a copy of the game, although the extra $20 for the Wii version is a little pricey. Barnyard is the typical THQ movie based game adaptation that has a lot of different genres crammed into the game, in this case the barn. Don't expect miracles, just a fun sand boxed movie based game that can hold your attention for a short while.

As far as a kid's movie to game crossover is concerned, Barnyard does decently for what it offers. The mini games are quite a bit of fun and the open-ended nature of the gameplay leaves room for a lot of depth. There are some spotty issues with the controls, the game is entirely too easy and the fetch quests get old after a while. I was pretty surprised (and disappointed) to see that the mini-games don't offer anything in the way of multiplayer, so that really kills some of the replay value. The aesthetics are acceptable for the kind of game this is but to be brutally honest they are average, if not a little less than. In the end kids that loved Barnyard are the only audience this game really has, though other, younger gamers may appreciate the content as well.
