Other interesting quirks include the Strike/Ball format, the one letter team abbreviations, the scoreboard, speed measures in kilometers and the odd angle of the field. However, these do not distract from the overall gameplay of this forgotten classic, but rather add to the Japanese aura which surrounds their original version of our game. I have to say, this game should be rated 85% - not perfect, but certainly better than the horrid fielding and hard pitching seen in later games like RBI Baseball. You'll find yourself staying late nights just to ATTEMPT to hit an inside the parker or pitch a no-hitter, usually to no avail.

Wii Sports Baseball is packed in with every new console sold – strike one against this NES classic. This game has also been re-released recently in a few other places, including an emulated appearance in Animal Crossing for the GameCube and an e-Card version for Game Boy Advance – strike two. But Baseball's important place in Nintendo's history, its two-player support and its still-intact sense of fun keep it from striking out. If you're a fan of hard hits, home runs and horsehide, give Baseball a try – it's less than the price of Cracker Jacks and a ballpark frank.

I wish that I could give this game a higher score, after all, it has killed time for me on many a long car ride. The game is just too damn repetitive to do so. With each passing inning, the monotony just grows and grows, until... well... until you turn the game off. If you find yourself in need of a simple baseball game, or need Nintendo's Baseball to round off your GameBoy collection, then by all means: go for it. But if you're just the average Joe video game player, just looking for a fun game, then look elsewhere. You will not find it in Nintendo's Baseball.

If you spent hours of your youth playing Baseball it may be worth $5 as a piece of nostalgia, but anyone looking for an enjoyable game will likely be disappointed, as Baseball is just too simplistic.

Even if you're a massive fan of baseball, it's hard to see how much enjoyment you'd get out of this rather stunted representation of the sport. We advise that you stick to the baseball game on Wii Sports or wait for Tecmo Baseball on the NES which is a much better game all-round.

I thought this early Nintendo title would deliver some fun old-school action, but its gameplay turned out to be atrocious. I like the idea of viewing the entire field on one screen (as in Atari 5200 Realsports Baseball), with a separate screen for the pitcher/batter duel. The ball movement is smooth enough, but the fielders are painfully slow and choppy. Much of the fielding appears to be computer controlled, and it's all too common for outfielders to throw out runners headed to first. Baseball's sound effects are practically non-existent, and so is the fun.
