The flight controls, overall, on the keyboard were solid enough, but as I’ve stated a few times before, the game may just not be challenging enough for flight veterans. This is a good title for people looking to get into flight titles, but for those of you who are not new to hitting the skies may not find the enjoyment to last for too long.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a visually exciting, arcade-style game that presents challenging missions in an easy to learn WWII flight simulation, this game has a lot to offer. However, if you need dynamic online game play with historically accurate aircraft, look somewhere else. Since I place great value in online play and historic accuracy in my gaming, this game fell a little short of my top picks. However, like the title of this review states, the game is a good “no nonsense arcade style WWII flight sim.

Простенькая самолетная аркада с минимумом интересных задумок.
Aside from these admittedly pronounced errors, Battle of Europe: RAF is a surprisingly fun game. Even though it's set in the far-overused WWII environment, it doesn't feel rehashed at all just due to the fact that it's entirely aerial. The graphics are fairly solid (when they're behaving), the audio is quite well done (if somewhat on the monaural side), and the overall mood manages to spill over into that thrilling tension hinted at in the second episode of Band of Brothers ("Day of Days"). That alone is an impressive feat. With solid developer support in the form of heavy-handed patches to buff out the rough edges, this game could be the beginning of a rewarding new franchise. Without that support, this bird won't even get off the ground. I recommend this game only with the caveat that you find it available at a budgeted price point.
Battle of Europe is another game in a genre absolutely clogged with WW2 flight sims. We are talking all the various Microsoft Combat Simulator titles, the earlier mentioned IL-2 Sturmovik series, and a host of others. Battle of Europe ultimately fails to compete with the latter games, which is a little sad considering most of these titles came out years back. However, Battle of Europe may provide a nice launching pad into more realistic (and better) flight sims, and for only $20, that may be just enough to lure a few folks into buying it. Also, like many games these days, you will be able to soon download from it’s website, making the whole process less painful. So to summarize: nice for beginners, but veterans should probably pass on this one.
There's definitely a fine line between arcade accessibility and accurate modeling. Even in an arcade game, a plane should fly like people who know nothing about aviation expect planes to fly. Things like torque and fuel mixture shouldn't matter, but things like gravity and speed should. Unfortunately, many of the things you'd expect to matter in an arcade flying game simply don't apply here. For twenty bucks, Battle of Europe might be worth the risk for players who are looking for something a little dumber and a lot easier than Secret Weapons or Blazing Angels.

Battle for Europe will sap any enthusiasm that you have for the game from the very beginning and won’t do anything to generate any fun or excitement if for some reason you decide to stick with it. Look for your flight thrills elsewhere.
Que vous soyez en quête de sensations ou de technique, il y a suffisamment de choix en matière de shoot pour que l'idée même de poser un oeil sur Battle Of Europe ne vous effleure.

Really, there’s not much else to this game. No dynamic campaign, no mission editor, no multiplayer. Aside from a couple of branching missions, there’s little reason to fire this game up after you’ve seen everything. And that won’t take you very long. But the game runs clean and looks nice enough in action. For a budget price, you could do worse. Yeah, it’s not a ringing endorsement, nor is it meant to be.
