Description
Behind Enemy Lines is an add-on for
Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator: WWII Europe Series. This package contains thirty missions, fifteen each for the Royal Air Force and the Luftwaffe, which are set around fictional events leading up to the D-Day landings. The missions are varied. Some of the Allied missions either start or end on a carrier. There are sorties to both attack enemy airfields and defend ships and airfields against attack. On the Luftwaffe side the missions are in many ways the opposite of the RAF missions, attack carriers, intercept bombers etc. Both sides have missions based around a spy called Solitaire with the Luftwaffe trying to prevent his/her escape and the RAF attempting to facilitate it.
Thus far the missions are all relatively standard. The main 'Behind Enemy Lines' mission/adventure is installed onto the training mission menu. It starts with a glider drop at night in which the player must navigate to and land at a German airfield which is in the hands of secret agents. There they swap to a stolen German plane and undertake a mission to fly around Germany to secret airstrips to deliver packages to other agents. En-route other objectives present themselves such as 'Our agents have reported something odd that's x miles off your route on bearing y, have a look and identify it for us'. A perfect mission will score either 2800 or 4000 points depending on the start point and just to emphasise that stealth is required the stolen plane has no guns.
The new planes introduced by this product are a Spitfire Mk IXt, a glider (the Schweizer 2-32 which wasn't actually built until 1962), and the German SRV Ultralight. This product makes use of the standard aircraft that come with
Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator , some of which are modified and are equipped with a bomb sight.
