Historical tiesThe premise for this game is based on real world events. After 1945, Berlin was divided into two different sections of "West Berlin" controlled by French, British and American sectors and "East Berlin" by the Soviets.
On June 24, 1948 the Russians halted all surface (rail and road) transport to and from Berlin. In response, the allies organized the Berlin Airlift to bring in supplies and get people out by airplane. Also, contributing to a thriving black market for goods and long queues at shops. It was lifted nearly a year later in May, 1949.
It was during this time of the blockade that the game begins.
