Bermuda Syndrome

Bermuda Syndrome sieht atemberaubend aus, hört sich toll an und läßt sich mit wenigen Tastaturbefehlen erfreulich präzise steuern. Eigentlich ein beinahe perfektes Programm, wenn da nicht der extrem hohe Schwierigkeitsgrad wäre, der einen alle paar Screens das Zeitliche segnen läßt. Wer sich hier durchbeißen will, sollte über eine gesunde Portion Hartnäckigkeit verfügen!

Bermuda Syndrome har okej ljud, mycket bra grafik och innehåller en lagom mix av problemlösande och action. En trevlig cocktail som gör skäl för sin plats på hårddisken.

Despite these flaws, it remains an entertaining game - it's colourful, fun, challenging at times and it's a nice alternative to anyone who enjoys Another World. Go on, give it a try!

Bermuda Syndrome is a classic, hero-type adventure packed with dangerous dinosaurs some challenging puzzles and, of course, a half-naked princess to rescue and fall in love with. Oh, and she does come in handy for solving some of the puzzles... But to begin it is probably best to quote the enclosed literature:

Die Anleihen beim persischen Prinzen und Flashback sind zwar unübersehbar, jedoch gibt's ein paar Verbesserungen, so daß man nicht sauer wird. Die True-Color-Szenarien sind hübscher und detailverliebt gezeichnet und zudem mit brauchbarem Sound ausgestattet. Im Verbund mit der passablen Steuerung macht es trotz altbekanntem Spielprinzip Spaß, den Helden zusammen mit seiner ebenso nett animierten Begleiterin durch die Gegend zu steuern.

What follows is a relatively entertaining combination of Prince Of Persia-style platform shenanigans, adventure game object-collecting, and topless cavegirls. It's not too bad as an occasional diversion while you're writing that 18,000 word thesis on the cultural significance of body-popping, but it's hardly satisfaction guaranteed for a full evening's escapism. Nice visuals, mind... but for once can we please have a main hero who isn't an obnoxious little prick?

Final verdict: great game, despite the B-movie dialogue. I'd buy the sequel - which is hinted at in the ending - unseen, provided the same team (minus the "voice talents") would be involved.

But eye and ear candy are nothing if a game's no fun to play, and The Bermuda Syndrome is definitely not fun to play. There's no hope for the side-scroller/adventure genre, and somehow I doubt any tears will be shed over it. And if you see a Bermuda Syndrome movie, don't be too surprised.
