Black & White ist ein Strategiespiel mit den einzigartigen Features, die PC-Spieler von einem Peter Molyneux-Titel erwarten.Von einer Zitadelle in einem entfernten Winkel der Spielewelt aus beobachtest du die 3D-Umgebung. In der Landschaft finden sich Stämme menschenähnlicher Wesen. Zoom heran, um diesen Geschöpfen bei ihrem Tagwerk zuzuschauen und beobachte, wie sie ein ganz “natürliches” Leben mit praktisch jedem Aspekt des Dorflebens führen. Die Dorfbewohner pflügen, jagen und fischen nicht nur, sie besuchen auch Freunde, spielen Spiele, verlieben sich und heiraten.Der Spieler beginnt damit, die Dorfbewohner zu “konvertieren”, damit sie ihn verehren. Die treuen Anhänger kön-nen zur Zitadelle gerufen werden, wo sie merkwürdige und komplizierte Kultrituale zu Ehren des Spielers aufführen: Sie tanzen um die Zitadelle und loben seinen Namen, dabei entsteht “Lebenskraft”, die wichtigste Zutat für magische Zaubersprüche.Das Spielen von Black & White ist wie ein großer Persönlichkeitstest. Das Ergebnis zeigt, was für ein Spieler du wirklich bist. Die Art und Weise, wie du dein Land regierst, wird im Spiel durch die entsprechende Entwicklung deiner Ländereien widergespiegelt.Die Spieler sind aber nicht allein im Spiel. Zu Beginn, während du dein Gebiet erweiterst, bauen einige andere Zauberer ihre eigene Macht aus. Irgendwann kommt dann der Zusammenstoß. In diesen Schlachten sind deine magischen Zaubersprüche deine Waffen.Wenn du ein beliebiges Lebewesen, das du in der Spielwelt findest, nimmst und in deine Zitadelle wirfst, unterläuft dieses Wesen eine magische Transformation. Wie ein Kind beginnt es zu wachsen. Es wächst. Und wächst ... Wenn es erwachsen ist, wird es zu einer gewaltigen Kreatur herangewachsen sein, die die Stammesleute überragt und ganze Dörfer mit einem einzigen Fußtritt einebnen kann. Wie es sich benimmt, wenn es durch die Landschaft stapft, hängt von deiner Erziehung ab.Black & White ist ein ambitioniertes Projekt, das neue Standards für Spieldesign und -ausführung setzen wird. Eden. The perfect world - the home of Black & White’. A lush, unspoiled paradise of small islands in a cobalt sea. Eight tribes live their lives here in harmony. They work the land, fish the sea, build homes and farm animals. They only want for one thing. A god.

It’s divine intervention – the villagers, in trouble one day, shout for help and you swoop from the heavens and save them. From that moment on, everything changes. You are their god and they set about constructing a temple in which to worship you. And, as is the way of gods, the more worship you receive, the stronger you get.

The villagers also take you to the most precious things on their island. These are the creatures; animals which frolic in a hidden oasis. You, as a god, may pick one of these and make it yours. The chosen creature will be your physical manifestation upon the realm and its appearance will reflect the kind of god you choose to be. You must teach it what to eat, where to sleep, how to help the tribes people and how to fight.

The worlds of Eden cry out for guidance. The man tribes need enlightenment, and they'll kneel before your temple to worship you as their god. As your influence spreads, you will grow in power and learn to cast wondrous Miracles in order to protect your worshipers and dispatch your foes. You will face many challenges and embark upon mighty quests that will test even your holy powers. But with the faith of the people behind you and your saintly Creature, you will overcome those who would rule the realms unjustly. You will become supreme god of the land.
