Blaze and Blade: Eternal Quest

Mal wieder ein Konsolen-Titelchen, das mit höllisch heißer Nadel auf den PC umgesetzt wurde. Wer daher zum gepflegten Spielchen eine intuitive Steuerung und opulente Grafik erwartet, wird um das Japano-Rollenspiel einen Bogen machen, größer als die Reichweite eines japanischen Langstocks. Nur zähe Naturen werden nach einiger Zeit die Vorzüge erkennen. Selbst Videospieler brauchen garantiert viele Tage, bis das Verbotene wieder zum Gelobten Land geworden ist. Und die einzelnen Abenteuer sind eigentlich ganz gewitzt und abwechslungsreich.

Der fernöstliche Look ist in. Wie’s gut aussieht, zeigt Final Fantasy 7, wie’s daneben gehen kann, beweist Blaze and Blade. Schade, denn hinter gräßlichen Texturen und wabernder Grafik verbirgt sich ein unterhaltsames Kampf-und-Sammel-Spielchen. Die neidischen Duelle um Schätze im Mehrspielermodus machen eine Zeitlang richtig Laune. Design-Schnitzer kühlen die Gemüter aber schnell wieder ab.

With so many bad things hindering Blaze and Blades, it really isn’t worthwhile for even the hardcore Rpg addicts. A dull story line, bad graphics, and piss poor AI all contribute to the overall feeling of disgust while playing Blaze and Blades. With games like Baldur’s Gate and Everquest on the market, you can do much better than this title.

As a game that could have come out a few years ago, Blaze & Blade gets acceptable marks, if not praise. Its relatively stable, has an intelligent layout, and minor innovations. For being a game that came out this year, in this game market, it clearly doesn't live up to the challenge of being an interesting RPG. Numerous minor flaws and an old, dated interface make this game a clear contender for shelf space.

Не каждый день увидишь магов, эльфов и гномов, пришедших на экраны наших мониторов не просто так, а в лучших традициях японской анимации. Именно это, в первую очередь, и заставляет обратить внимание на игру. Впрочем, если вы равнодушны к подражанию тонкому искусству, то в глаза может броситься и некая вторичность сюжета, и более чем скромная ролевая система, и... Так что боже вас упаси играть в B&B. А, впрочем, попробовать все же стоит. Что если понравится?

Despite all this, Blaze & Blade will appeal to a few people. When you're making progress it isn't that bad. If you have so much free time that you are pulling your hair out and want a simple, highly repetitive game, then the $30 may be an okay investment. However, the other 99.50f us should flee at first sight from Blaze & Blade.

The lesson here, students, is that when you make a bad port of an already sub-average game, you wind up with crap. If this game had some focus, some goal to work towards, then perhaps it could have been better than crap. Frankly, Blaze and Blade is just out there to trap the unassuming with its anime art cover and the promise of a computer RPG quest. It's just so pointless. So very, very pointless. There may be blaze and blades in this game, but there's no heart and soul.
