Blue's Reading Time Activities

In the present U.S. educational system, every parent is fighting to give his/her child a distinct advantage in school. What steps can a parent take to scaffold his/her child's learning at the home front? I will let you in on a "Humongous" secret. The good people at Humongous have created a game that reinforces all the hard work that a "good" teacher does by taking the fundamental reading skills and incorporating them into a game that not only tricks the child into reading, but also stars one of the most famous dogs of all time. How can you beat that?

Prompted by host Steve Burns, Blue visits with familiar (and some new!) friends for help with newspaper stories. Youngsters will adore these activities because they’re rich with words accompanied by pictures, to help hone early reading skills, including spelling, comprehension, and writing.

The game really does deserve a higher mark. Unfortunately, the flaws in the game and manual affect the rating. Blue's Reading Time Activities is simply not up to the standards that I, as well as other parents, have come to expect from the Blue's Clues games. While the flaws are not enough to ruin the game, it can make it much less enjoyable for your kids. For this reason alone, you'll probably want to supervise to minimize frustration.
